Local Union 345 is a chapter of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the U.S and Canada, which represents about 350,000 plumbers, pipefitters, sprinkler fitters, HVAC technicians and welders.

SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE!

Dear Members,

We are pleased to notify you once again of this wonderful opportunity. The California State Pipe Trades Council Scholarship Foundation awards college scholarships to children of UA Local Union members in good standing.

Applications and additional required material will be accepted between November 1, 2025 and March 1, 2026. A U.S. Postal Service official postmark of March 1, 2026 will be accepted. In order to ensure applications are processed in a timely fashion, applications received more than five business days after the postmark deadline of March 1, 2026 will not be accepted.

We are aware that some college acceptance letters will not have been distributed before this deadline. However, it is the applicant’s responsibility to submit all other materials on time, and supplement their application with the acceptance letter as soon as possible, and in any event no later than March 31, 2026. Only COMPLETE applications will be eligible for an award.

Forty (40) college scholarships of $2,500 each will be awarded to the children of members of Pipe Trades Local Unions affiliated with the California State Pipe Trades Council. These scholarships must be used for full-time undergraduate study at an accredited U.S. community college, four-year college, or university. The California State Pipe Trades Council Scholarship Foundation will not impose restrictions of any kind on the course of study. Recipients may accept any other grants or awards that do not rule out scholarship aid from other sources.

We are excited to invite you to participate in the United Association’s 2025 Apprentice Contest, where the top apprentices from California will compete in a hands-on project and written assessment. This event is a unique opportunity to showcase the exceptional skill and craftsmanship in the Landscape/Irrigation, Sewer & Storm Drain, Underground Specially Piping industry.

Apprentices may participate in the State Contest providing they are third to fifth year registered apprentice member. Two apprentices will be selected based on their academic performance and attendance.

Scholarship Contest Rules & Instructions

Forty scholarships in the amount of $2,500 will be awarded to the winning applicants. Applications and the required accompanying materials will be accepted beginning November 1, 2023.

They must be postmarked no later than March 1, 2024. Applications must be received within five business days after this deadline.

We are pleased to announce that the United Association Scholarship Trust Fund is gearing up for the 2023-2024 academic year scholarship awards. Up to 112 scholarships totaling as much as $222,000 will be awarded this year, including 106 for students pursuing undergraduate studies and up to six for students pursuing graduate studies. Scholarships range from $1,500 to $5,000 each. Generally, dependents of UA members who are pursuing a post-high school education at an accredited college or university may apply for a scholarship (for more information, see eligibility requirements and award criteria in the detailed instructions found with the application). The deadline for submitting applications is June 6, 2023.
