Madly Curious Inc is a non-profit corporation established for the purposes of bringing whimsical creations to those most in need of connecting to the wonderment and love of this world. We produce large scale flowers and other whimsical delights made of paper. These paper displays are gifts for the patients' families to take home. A few examples of these enchanting pieces mentioned are posted on ma
dlycurious.org. In this early phase of the program these memorial displays are being placed in the hospital rooms of those facing a terminal diagnosis. As this program expands we will begin to include other long-term stay patients diagnosed with hopeful outcomes. Already I've learned that these large flowers inspire visits from long-term stay patients residing nearby and act as joyful conversation starters. And it must be mentioned here, that these put on quite a joyful show as these are being transported throughout the hospital. Many smiles and photo opportunities are happening! It’s all very entertaining for all involved. These pieces also reconnect caregivers and employees to the ethos of the City of Hope hospital. “There is no profit in curing the body if in the process we destroy the soul.” Each of us has a larger impact upon the other and often more than we may realize. Let us be inspired to do big wondrous things with and for one another. Just look at how capable we are…It’s just paper, and look at what paper can do when the right people, places and circumstances transform it. Long term goals:
Once a larger team and a system are in place outside of the hospital we'll collaborate with art therapists inside of the hospital in an effort to build large scale public and seasonal displays with patients participating wherever feasible and enjoyable to them. The large structural pieces will be built off campus while the smaller more manageable parts will be offered to patients and their families to make while staying in the hospital. Many of those pieces will likely be personalized and sentimental to then fit into the larger paper composition to be on display for all staying at and visiting the hospital. Concept examples will be provided upon request and certainly as this part of the program gets closer to launching within the hospital. The individual memorials will continue with added help from artists and volunteers. Feel free to contact me if you're curious.
