Had a nice time with our group of Legion Riders on May 2nd at the Sleeping Angel's annual fun run in Boone. Weather was a little cool starting out but it was a beautiful spring day. A special thank you and congratulations to the winners of our Legacy Fund raffle. And thank you to all those who donated gifts, bought tickets, and supported our cause. We greatly appreciate your support which will go to helping families, and family members of veterans.

The winners were:

Ernie Martinez from Mason City, who won the 5lb. Meat stick bundle.

August and Ellie Schubert of Rowan Iowa, who won the custom American Flag display.

And Nicole Spade from Belmond Iowa who won the Custom Made quilt.

We would like to thank everyone that bought raffle tickets, people that donated prizes, and the businesses that have donated to our Legacy (Veterans and Children's Foundation) runs. At this year's winter conference we were blessed with a gift that only 5 Iowa chapters of Legion Riders get yearly. This was the first year these awards were given. After only being a chapter for 2 years we were humbled by this honor. And it was possible with the generosity given by you, our community. It also let's you know that your generosity is not taken lightly and deeply appreciated. From Chapter 523 we want to let everyone know that we take helping veterans extremely serious. And we appreciate your help in doing just that.

Come join us at the Dows Legion today from 11 am -1pm for our free will donation soup dinner. We'll have different soups, corn bread, drink, and desert. Help support our organization to give back to veterans in the area. Hope to see you there.

Had a super nice turn out for our January 24th Legion Rider Dinner Ride at Cattleman's on the Green in Belmond. Thanks to Cattleman's and all that attended.

We had the pleasure of giving our veterans a few goodies for Christmas and thanking them for their service again this year at the Hampton, Sheffield, Belmond, and Clarion care facilities. We appreciate what they've done for us. And always want them to know they're never forgotten.
