I should have posted this some time ago but there are so many things to do when you lose someone. Patty was my wife, my first love, my best friend, my soul mate, and so much more. Today is two months since she passed and I miss her every day. I'm still taking it day by day and it gets a little better with each of those passing days.
-----
Patricia Lynn (Marshall) THOMPSON, CTR1, 69, of Fenton, Missouri, passed away 27 March 2023. She was born 19 November 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri and enlisted in the Navy in March 1979. Patty completed CTT A school training and was assigned to NSGA Edzell, Scotland where she met and married her husband, Samuel Lee Thompson. In addition to Edzell, the couple served together at NSGA Misawa, Japan; NSGD Sugar Grove, West Virginia; Navy Unit Germany, Bad Aibling, Germany; and NSGA Sabana Seca, Puerto Rico where Patty accepted early retirement. While at Sabana Seca, she was converted from CTT to CTR. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in 1994 from the University of the State of New York. Patty was a National Cryptologic School Adjunct Faculty Instructor for six years.
Patty retired from the Navy in 1995 and followed her husband to Washington D.C. and Maryland where they lived for ten years. She worked several temporary jobs before moving to St. Louis where she worked with her sister at the American Recorder Society before retiring in 2015.
Over the years Patty was active in several organizations. She was a cast member of the Montrose (Scotland) Amateur Operatic Society, performing in Camelot. Patty was a Girl Scout Leader and an American Red Cross Disaster Services Volunteer for several years. She was an International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) Certified Administrative Professional and a past President of the Missouri Division of the IAAP. Patty was Treasurer / Newsletter Editor for the Thimble and Thread Quilt Guild. She and her husband have been members of the NCVA since 1986 and she was serving as the Vice-President of the Gateway Chapter-NCVA at the time of her passing.
Patty is survived by her husband of 42 years, CTRC Sam Thompson (Ret); children UT1 (SCW/EXW) John Thompson and Christine Thompson, as well as four grandchildren. Interment is planned for Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
