A legacy that’s still in motion. 💜

National Estate Planning Week is a reminder that planning for the future can be about more than providing for loved ones—it can also be a way to make a lasting difference in the community.

Mary Voigt lived life fully—independent, curious, generous, and never afraid to speak her mind. Before her passing at 100, she took thoughtful steps to ensure her generosity would continue supporting the community she loved.

Today, close family friends Steve and Christine Smith carry forward Mary’s philanthropic spirit through the Mary L. Voigt Fund, working in partnership with DuPage Foundation to support local nonprofits and strengthen DuPage County for generations to come.

The arts are more than a quality-of-life asset. They’re an economic powerhouse.

A new economic impact study commissioned by Arts DuPage – an initiative of DuPage Foundation – found that DuPage County’s creative economy generates an incredible $8 billion in economic activity each year and supports 38,208 jobs — 7.9% of total employment in the county.

And the impact doesn’t stop there. For every $1 produced directly by the creative sector, another 61 cents in local economic activity is generated.

From artists and arts organizations to creative businesses, venues, educators, and the workers and businesses who support them, the creative economy is an important part of DuPage’s economic infrastructure.

We’re taking a closer look at what the numbers tell us — and why investing in the arts means investing in a vibrant, thriving DuPage.

Last week’s Arts DuPage grant open house was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our local arts community and celebrate the organizations making creativity accessible across DuPage County! 🎨🎭

Through Arts DuPage, an initiative of DuPage Foundation, we champion the arts by connecting people with creative experiences, supporting local arts organizations, and strengthening the role of arts and culture in our community.

This fall, we awarded more than $240,000 in grants to support the incredible work happening in the creative community throughout DuPage County. Congratulations to our grantees! We’re excited to see how these investments inspire creativity, build connections, and enrich lives across our county.

Collaboration makes our communities stronger.

We’re proud to share that our President & CEO, Mike Sitrick, has been appointed to the Board of the Alliance of Illinois Community Foundations.

The Alliance brings community foundations together to strengthen and promote community philanthropy across Illinois, share knowledge and best practices, and help foundations more effectively connect donors and resources with community needs.

That spirit of collaboration is central to DuPage Foundation’s work—and to Mike’s leadership. From building strategic partnerships in DuPage County to working alongside community foundations across the state, we know that we can accomplish more when we work together.

We’re excited to see Mike bring his experience, perspective, and collaborative approach to this statewide network.

Yesterday, we were proud to sponsor and present at DuPage County Estate Planning Council's October program. Trustee John Campbell (Calamos Wealth Management), VP for Advancement Natalie Knight, and VP for Programs Barb Szczepaniak provided a panel discussion moderated by Senior Philanthropy Officer Michael Trench. A Powerful Win-Win-Win: How Strategic Philanthropy Can Benefit You, Your Clients, and Our Community.”
The program explored how strategic philanthropy can benefit clients, advisors, and our community.

We also loved seeing generosity in action: Kim Coogan won the $1,000 door prize raffle and recommended the grant to Hope's Front Door. What a meaningful way to turn a little luck into a lot of good!

Last week, NGI members and friends gathered at Noon Whistle Brewing in Lombard for an evening of connection, learning, and giving back to our community.

This fall, NGI spotlighted the important work of Elmhurst/Yorkfield Food Pantry (EYFP), whose mission is to provide healthy, accessible food and compassionate support to neighbors in need. The pantry’s work helps ensure children, families, seniors, and working individuals facing food insecurity have access to nutritious food—even when donated supplies fall short. Missed the event?
