The Outreach House

The Outreach House The Outreach House’s reason for being is simple.

We’re here to provide compassionate and effective assistance to those who need it most through our four programs - Food Pantry, Clothes Closet, First Things First and Walk In Assistance. Starting in 2003, The Outreach House was focused primarily on helping low-income families during the first three years of their children's lives through our First Things First program. The Outreach House also star

ted and grew a Walk-In Assistance program to support individuals and families with emergency needs. In August 2021, these two programs merged with the Lombard/Villa Park Food Pantry and the Clothes Closet, both services of First United Methodist Church of Lombard, operating for 40 and 14 years, respectively. The goal of this collaboration is to create a central location where York Township residents can access a broader range of services, expanding from infant needs and emergency assistance to include food and clothing for all ages. Now that we have merged all of our programs under one name - The Outreach House - our goal is to provide access to all these services from one location, under one roof. Currently, The Outreach House’s four programs - The Food Pantry, First Things First, Emergency Walk-in Assistance and Clothes Closet - serve all residents of York Township, including the communities of Lombard, Villa Park, Elmhurst, Oak Brook and parts of Oakbrook Terrace, Westmont, Downers Grove, Glen Ellyn and Hinsdale as well as the towns of Glendale Heights and Addison. If anyone who visits us is not a resident of York Township, Addison or Glendale Heights we will also do our best to direct them to other organizations providing services in their community.

*Please note*
Our hours are listed above, however we are also open the 3rd Saturday of each month from 9-11.45 am.

We are grateful for a seat at the table.

Grocery prices continue to rise while federal assistance programs face cuts. Our Executive Director, Catherine Lynott, joined Congressman Sean Casten and other organizations from the area to discuss what this means to our families. These conversations are important because oftentimes it's frontline organizations like ours that see the immediate effects of federal policy changes.

If rising food costs are affecting your family, please visit us for assistance.

Or if you're in a position to donate, consider becoming a monthly donor to show your neighbors you are here for them.

To some, it's just a box of cake mix. To a child in our program, it's the centerpiece of their special day. We're looking to fill 10 more birthday bags this week.

Could you add a cake mix or frosting to your next grocery run? Items can be dropped off at the back of our building during open hours.

We have accomplished so much here in one short year and we're just getting started. Join us for a community-wide open house to see first-hand the many ways we are making an impact and celebrate our growing community.

Bonus! This falls on National Diaper Need Awareness Week. You heard we will soon be DuPage County's first diaper bank, right? There is truly so much to celebrate right now.

Anyone and everyone is welcome. Bring your family, a friend or neighbor and enjoy light refreshments with us.

Good morning from The Outreach House! We’re delighted to have a great selection of fresh produce to offer to our guests today thanks to our partnership with northernilfoodbank and our retail store partners. We’re so grateful to our volunteers for working so hard to stock our shelves and create such a welcoming environment.

It’s easy to help: you can donate, host a drive or volunteer! Of course if you need our services we are excited to welcome you.

We’re expanding!

Each week families face an impossible choice - buy diapers for their babies or food for their families. Diaper need is real. Many neighbors turn to our First Things First program for assistance with diapers.

But what if we could reach more babies?

Thanks to a $163,000 generous grant from the DuPage Community Transformation Partnership, a collaboration with DuPage County and DuPage Foundation, we are launching the county’s first-ever diaper bank. Soon we will begin distributing diapers to partner organizations so more families have access to this basic need.

Stay tuned for exciting updates on construction and new partnerships.

In the meantime, we can’t do this alone. This grant is a powerful start, but your support turns it into a lasting resource for local families. Visit our website and donate today.

We are grateful.

At The Outreach House there’s always plenty to do—and the Illinois Waymark Care Team jumped right in to help!

Their team rolled up their sleeves to clean shelves, stock fresh fruits & veggies, and sort & hang clothing for our neighbors.

Thanks to their hard work, our spaces are cleaner, our shelves are stocked, and our clothing areas are ready to welcome guests with dignity and care.

Thank you, Illinois Waymark Care Team, for making a difference! 🙌

Want to make an impact with your team? Bring your workplace, organization, or group to volunteer at The Outreach House!

Imagine having no food at home and no transportation to get to a pantry? We know there are people in our community in this situation and we are so grateful to lombardchurchofthenazarene for their trialing their new home delivery ministry with us. They completed their first Order Ahead pick up and home delivery last night and plan to expand to support more home bound neighbors in the future.
