We have lots of cute kittens available for adoption! If you are looking to adopt a kitten now is the time. You can see all that are currently available on our website www.wiregrasshumanesociety.com and click on adoptable. Adoption fee is $95. That includes spay/neuter, vaccines and microchip.
We have been totally overwhelmed with request to take in cats and kittens but we must get some adopted to take in more. PLEASE if you find kittens give the mom a chance to come back if the kittens are not in immediate danger. Mom often goes off to hunt for food and may not be back for several hours. The kittens BEST chance of survival is to stay with mom. Kittens who are not yet eating solid food and must be bottle fed require around the clock care. Very young kittens must be fed every two to three hours. Our shelter is not equipped to provide around the clock care. Fosters who bottle feed are difficult to find, especially during the summer, as it is a big time commitment. Very young kittens also do not have a fully developed immune system and it is very easy for them to get sick in a shelter setting. While we know people have the very best intentions, if you find young kittens under a shed, under a porch etc. give mom a chance to come back rather than just quickly taking the kittens. She is the best equipped to raise them!!
