We had a great program at Rotary this week!

We were excited to welcome Clay Dempsey, Director of Performing Arts, along with our very own Rotarian Kishia Saffold, to share some exciting things happening right here in Dothan.

Clay and Kishia talked about Dothan being selected as a Levitt AMP grant winner and what that means for our community — including upcoming FREE concerts bringing live music, families, and our community together! 🎶

We love hearing about projects that create opportunities for people to gather, enjoy our city, and experience all that Dothan has to offer.

Thank you, Clay and Kishia, for sharing the vision behind the Levitt AMP Dothan Music Series with us. We can’t wait to see everyone at the AMP!

What a fun Rotary meeting this week! 🩰💙

We were excited to welcome Tracy Solomon with SEADAC, who shared more about the incredible work they’re doing in our community. She also brought along two amazingly talented dancers who demonstrated several ballet techniques for our club.

Of course, we couldn’t just watch! Our very own Wes Crowley and Tina McKay were called into action and showed us their best ballet moves. We’re pretty sure they’re ready for the stage now!

Thank you, Tracy, and your talented dancers for visiting the Dothan Tuesday Rotary Club and giving us such a fun, entertaining, and informative program. And a special thank you to Wes and Tina for being such great sports!

Football season is almost here!

Yesterday, the Dothan Tuesday Rotary Club enjoyed one of our favorite programs of the year. We always enjoy hearing from local high school football coaches and players about their teams and the upcoming season.

We were glad to welcome:

It’s always a club favorite to hear directly from the coaches and student-athletes about their preparation, goals and excitement for the year ahead.

Dothan Tuesday Rotary Club enjoyed an informative presentation from Chris Warren, Director of Dothan Houston County Library System and Everlie Bolton with the Friends of the Dothan Houston County Library System.

Chris shared some incredible impact statistics that demonstrate just how valuable our public library is to the Wiregrass. In FY2025 alone, the library welcomed 280,459 in-person visits.
These numbers are a powerful reminder that our library is so much more than a place to borrow books—it’s a vital community resource that educates, connects, and enriches lives every day

We learned about the many ways the Friends of the Library support our local libraries—from funding programs and services to providing volunteers and advocacy that help our library system thrive.

One exciting event coming up is the Big Book Sale, taking place August 14–23 at the Westgate Recreation Center Gym. Friends of the Library members get exclusive early access on August 13 from 4:00–7:00 p.m., and memberships are available online or at the door. It’s a great opportunity to stock up on books while supporting an organization that gives back to our community.

We also learned about the new Library Sustainers Monthly Giving Program. Monthly gifts provide reliable, year-round funding that helps the library plan ahead, expand services, and continue serving the Wiregrass in meaningful ways. It’s an easy, automatic way to make a lasting impact.

Thank you Chris and Everlie, for sharing the incredible work being done through the Friends of the Library and for reminding us that strong libraries help build strong communities.

As we begin a new Rotary year, we want to take a moment to thank Hunter Skipper for his outstanding leadership as President of the Dothan Tuesday Rotary Club during the 2025–2026 Rotary year.

Under Hunter’s leadership, our club accomplished a great deal through meaningful service projects, community partnerships, and opportunities to make a lasting impact throughout the Wiregrass. Thank you, Hunter, for your dedication, leadership, and commitment to Service Above Self.

We are also excited to welcome Blake Seymour as our 2026–2027 Club President. We look forward to another year of fellowship, service, and making a difference in our community.

The Dothan Rotary Club extends our sincere thanks to Dr. Alveda King for joining us as our guest speaker this week. Her message on faith, leadership, service, and strengthening our communities was both inspiring and thought-provoking.

We were also honored to welcome Belinda Thomas, founder of Joyful F.A.R.M.S., a nonprofit based in Ozark dedicated to agricultural education, sustainability, and empowering new and beginning farmers with the tools and resources to build stronger, more self-sufficient futures.

Joining her was Aaron King, CEO of Joyful F.A.R.M.S. and founder of Sweet Bama Honey. Through their leadership, they are expanding access to agricultural education, promoting entrepreneurship, and creating opportunities that make a lasting impact throughout our communities.

Thank you to each of our guests for sharing your time, your mission, and your passion for serving others. Rotary is grateful for leaders who are making a meaningful difference both locally and beyond.

The Dothan Tuesday Rotary Club extends our sincere appreciation to Chief Benny of the Dothan Police Department for speaking at our July 14, 2026, meeting.

Chief Benny gave our members an informative look into the work of the Cyber Intelligence Unit and UAV (drone) Operations, sharing how these innovative technologies are helping the Dothan Police Department prevent crime, support investigations, and enhance public safety throughout our community.

Thank you, Chief Benny, for your leadership, your dedication to protecting our community, and for taking the time to educate our club on these important advancements in modern policing. We appreciate your service and the outstanding work of the men and women of the Dothan Police Department.

This week, the Dothan Tuesday Rotary Club had the privilege of welcoming the coaches from Dothan United Soccer Club as our guest speakers.

They shared the exciting growth of soccer in our community and how Dothan United is helping inspire the next generation of athletes right here at home. It was great to hear about their vision for the club, their commitment to player development, and the positive influence they’re making both on and off the field.

Thank you to the coaches for taking time to be with us and for investing in the youth and families of the Wiregrass. We appreciate all you’re doing to grow the game and build community through soccer!

The Dothan Tuesday Rotary Club welcomed Brinley Culbreth, the new Executive Director of Downtown Dothan, as our guest speaker Tuesday.

Brinley shared updates on the exciting growth and momentum happening in downtown Dothan, along with her vision for the future of our city’s vibrant downtown district.

Did you know …….Dothan has earned one of the most respected honors in community development as this year’s newest Main Street Alabama designation?
