Come give Scandinavian dance a whirl, then stick around or join us later for an old-fashioned Schoolhouse Social!

Join us this Saturday, June 6 at the Wakefield Schoolhouse for an afternoon and evening of live music, dancing, potluck, games, and good company.

At 3:30 PM, Greg Winz will lead a friendly Beginning Scandinavian Dance Workshop, introducing approachable steps from Scandinavian social dance traditions. The workshop will be shaped to fit the people who come, so beginners are truly welcome. No experience or partner required. Bring a friend, come ready to learn, and enjoy dancing to live music a cozy, historic space.

Workshop suggested donation: $10–$20

Then stick around or join us later for the Schoolhouse Social at 6:00 PM, with a community potluck followed by favorite folk dances and games from the Schoolhouse era. These Saturday Night Socials harken back to the early days of Folklore Village, when Jane Farwell hosted lively gatherings at the Wakefield Schoolhouse.

Musicians are welcome and encouraged to bring an instrument and join the informal Folklore Village Band.

Potluck starts at 6:00 PM. Please bring a dish to share and your own tableware for the meal. The Schoolhouse does not have running water, so we appreciate your help by packing out your used dishes, cups, and silverware.

Schoolhouse Social admission:
$10 adults
$8 teens and seniors
$5 kids ages 5–12
Free for kids under 5
Family admission capped at $25

Location note: Farwell Hall facilities will not be available on June 6 due to a private event. Please come directly to the Schoolhouse site:
