DeWitt Community Concert Band

DeWitt Community Concert Band The DeWitt Community Concert Band was created in 1985 with an original membership of thirteen. He studied conducting with Michael Haithcock, James Tapia, and H.

Under the exceptional leadership of it's founder, Patricia Keileen Jackson, the band thrived, attracting much of it's current membership. The DCCB would like to thank DeWitt Community Education for its support. DCCB is proud to perform in local area venues such as the Lake Lansing Community Band shell in the "Sounds of Summer" Concert Series and in the Haslett "Good Old Days" Festival, the DeWitt

Public Library, DeWitt's fall children's event, "Pumpkin Palooza", St. John's "Mint Festival", and seasonal concerts in many of the areas retirement communities. The DCCB finds that educating and sharing the gift of music with the people in its surrounding communities a most rewarding experience. Conductor Craig Hayward began directing the band for the 2014-2015 season. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where he earned both is bachelor's and master's in Music Education. Robert Reynolds, and saxophone with Donald Sinta, Clifford Leaman, George Benson, and Emil Sutt. He has taught music in public schools for ten years. Craig is grateful for the opportunity to direct DCCB each week, and is proud to work with such a delightful group of musicians. Nicole Leppala became our first Assistant Director in the 2014-2015 season. An avid musician since childhood, Nicole plays French horn, trumpet, piano, and organ. She has been the principle French horn player in DCCB since 1994. In addition to DCCB, Nicole is the Music City Ringers handbell choir as well as the Music Director for Hope Lutheran Church in DeWitt. She has received certification in Lutheran Musician Enrichment and participated in advanced music study through the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

DCCB’s Drew Monks, one of our trombone players. You might catch him out and about if you visit Michigan Wildlife Conservatory in Bath. A beautiful place to visit!

Accompanied by Drew Monks, botanist at Michigan wildlife Conservancy, we made our way around back of Park Lake yesterday to look in on the Eagles. Baby eaglet sticking his/her head out, all the while having a close eye kept in him/her by mom/dad. Don’t know which parent really; can’t tell them apart. I’m sure the other parent is out hunting for dinner for the family. This year’s nest appears much more robust than previous years, hopefully to better withstand the crazy wind storms that have proven fatal to previous nests.
