Under the exceptional leadership of it's founder, Patricia Keileen Jackson, the band thrived, attracting much of it's current membership. The DCCB would like to thank DeWitt Community Education for its support. DCCB is proud to perform in local area venues such as the Lake Lansing Community Band shell in the "Sounds of Summer" Concert Series and in the Haslett "Good Old Days" Festival, the DeWitt
Public Library, DeWitt's fall children's event, "Pumpkin Palooza", St. John's "Mint Festival", and seasonal concerts in many of the areas retirement communities. The DCCB finds that educating and sharing the gift of music with the people in its surrounding communities a most rewarding experience. Conductor Craig Hayward began directing the band for the 2014-2015 season. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where he earned both is bachelor's and master's in Music Education. Robert Reynolds, and saxophone with Donald Sinta, Clifford Leaman, George Benson, and Emil Sutt. He has taught music in public schools for ten years. Craig is grateful for the opportunity to direct DCCB each week, and is proud to work with such a delightful group of musicians. Nicole Leppala became our first Assistant Director in the 2014-2015 season. An avid musician since childhood, Nicole plays French horn, trumpet, piano, and organ. She has been the principle French horn player in DCCB since 1994. In addition to DCCB, Nicole is the Music City Ringers handbell choir as well as the Music Director for Hope Lutheran Church in DeWitt. She has received certification in Lutheran Musician Enrichment and participated in advanced music study through the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
