Universe Building - the UIO A radical community of souls & travelers intentionally living & working cooperatively at a collectivist project space & performing arts venue The U.I.O. Namaste.

The Universe Building is an intentional community center / radical collectivist project space built around consensus thru inter-council and cooperative behavior. remains open to intentional community involvement through volunteer grassroots work trade, organizing & consensus building to encourage local independence & opportunity for our one human family. Volunteers wanted: join our community work

day events to help restore our building and neighborhood projects. We need help with everything from painting, moving stuff, to more serious repairs like dry wall, plumbing, & carpentry, etc...

Our main focus as of now is restoration work the building of 1. East Montana Street into a cooperative space for artists, vendors, musicians, writers, and volunteers for opening a cafe, upcyclery & restore shop, and much more! We hold community space by suggested donation for events, workshops & meetings. Activities held at this building are supported by community organizational efforts to restore the building, facilitate our D.I.Y. art commons work trades, U.I.O. Radio programming and non-profit efforts for revitalization of our grassroots culture here in Detroit city.
