Today we celebrate a visionary entrepreneur, food and beverage leader, event professional, and cherished Friend of Aya House.

As CEO of EM2 Felton Spice LLC, Anica brings flavor, creativity, excellence, and entrepreneurial courage into every space she touches. Her work reminds us that food is more than what we consume. It is culture, memory, gathering, storytelling, and connection.

Anica has supported Aya House from a place of deep belief. When she joined as a Friend of Aya House, she shared that she enjoyed bearing witness to the creation of continued empowerment, knowledge-sharing, and life-enriching opportunities that would help many people reach successful milestones from an idea first born in the minds of two amazing Black women.

Today we celebrate a woman who embodies heart, creativity, service, and Detroit resilience.

As Chief Executive Director of Childs Play Foundation, Inc., Kierra leads with a deep commitment to children, families, community, and joy. Her work reflects the kind of love that builds safer, stronger, more imaginative spaces for young people to grow, dream, and thrive.

When Kierra joined Aya House, she shared that what appealed to her most was that Aya House was founded from a love of Detroit, culture, intentionality, peace, love, community, and mental wellness. She also named what so many of us feel: Detroit is a city of fighters, builders, creatives, hustlers, and “GO GETTERS.”

That same Detroit spirit shows up in Kierra.

She brings event planning, project management, dance, creativity, design, and a true love for bringing people together. Happy Birthday to our Founding Member, servant leader, and one of Aya House’s most supportive community partners: Shadora Ford! 🎉🖤✨

Some people support from a distance. Shadora shows up!

As the Founder and Executive Director of Destined for Greatness, Shadora has dedicated her work to pouring into young people, building opportunity, creating safe spaces, and reminding the next generation that greatness is not something they have to wait for. It is already inside of them.

From the moment Shadora connected with Aya House, her alignment was clear. She shared that Aya House’s mission is imperative to our community because it supports servant leaders of nonprofits, and that she herself was a servant leader in need of this safe space. That is exactly the kind of leader she is: honest, mission-driven, community-rooted, and always thinking about how to serve others more deeply.

Shadora has become one of our most supportive community partners, consistently finding ways to connect, collaborate, refer, uplift, and bring people into the Aya House ecosystem. She does not just believe in community in theory. She practices it. She lives it. She moves like collaboration is a responsibility.

And this Thursday, she is celebrating her birthday in the most Shadora way possible: by bringing her Destined for Greatness youth to our DiscoverWorks camp. That is who she is. Even in a birthday week, she is still building bridges, creating exposure, and making sure young people are in rooms where they can be inspired, affirmed, and poured into.
