🎬✨ Join us on Thursday, August 20, 2026, for an inspiring evening celebrating independent filmmaking, culture, and powerful storytelling. Trinity Films Entertainment Group in collaboration with The LOVE Building Inc. presents another installment of the For the Love of Film Series — a curated night of short films highlighting identity, creativity, resilience, culture, and self-expression through compelling visual storytelling.

Friday, August 14, at the Love building Come fly, leave fly-er! YOU Bring a shirt or sweater or fabric as your ticket into Stitch A Fit. Each time we’ll be focused on a particular piece of clothing. This time the star of the show is the shirt!
WE are providing, snacks, fun upcycled pieces, patches, accessories AND Stations to help you modify your fit.
You get 1 hour for garment modifications and 1 hour for accessories and finishing touches The event will end with a voluntary fit check to decide who will walk away with our 1st second and third place grand prize! The winner is decided by the most effort and style. We don’t want you to just pull up in designer. We want you to BE THE DESIGNER.

LOVE @ Nite is more than an event it’s a celebration of music, art, creativity, and community. Whether you’ve been with us since day one or you’re experiencing The LOVE Building for the first time, come spend the evening with us and celebrate everything that makes this community so special.

What to Expect
• The opening reception for “An Ode to 4731,” a group exhibition honoring The LOVE Building’s legacy
• LOVE Building Open House from 5–6 PM, featuring interactive activations from our incredible tenant partners

John "Jammin" Collins, legendary DJ, producer, and Detroit techno pioneer, has passed from this physical plane, but the essence and spirit of his music will live on forever.

The news of John's passing sent shockwaves throughout Detroit and the global music community. As a DJ, producer, educator, founder of the Detroit Regional Music Conference, contributor to Underground Resistance and Submerge, and steward of Exhibit 3000: Detroit Techno Museum, John helped shape Detroit techno into a global movement while preserving the city's musical legacy.

Just last month during LGBT Pride Month, we had the opportunity to reconnect with John through Detroit Sound Conservancy during the One Night Only event at Spot Lite, honoring the legacy of Ken Collier and Club Heaven. We were honored to welcome him to A Place Called Heaven, a panel discussion hosted at The Love Building as part of the Love @ Nite series. Alongside Close Frenz, Le***an Social Detroit, LGBT Detroit, Detroit Sound Conservancy, and the Heaven In Detroit team, we reflected on protecting our sacred spaces and honoring the history of Hotter Than July, Detroit's longest-running Black LGBT+ Pride celebration.

We were blessed to have John in the space with us during this discussion and to thank him in person for everything he gave to Detroit's music scene.

Only weeks later, we lost Spot Lite. Now, on the final day of this year's Hotter Than July weekend, we've also lost one of the pioneers who helped create the soundtrack for those very spaces.

Even as John transitions from this physical realm, we know his spirit lives on through his music. It continues to inspire our mission to honor his impact—and the legacy of so many Detroit music pioneers—through Heaven In Detroit: A Sanctuary of Sound.
