It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our Board Chair, Dr. Iris Taylor.

Dr. Taylor's thoughtful, principled leadership helped shape the vision of Detroit Promise and strengthen our commitment to expanding educational opportunities for Detroit students. A lifelong champion for Detroit, her decades of leadership and service left a lasting mark on our city and the countless lives she touched.

Today, we honor a life devoted to service, leadership guided by purpose, and a legacy that will continue to shape Detroit for generations to come.

We extend our deepest condolences to Dr. Taylor's family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside her.

As of today, we are making updates to better support students, families, and community partners. The application will reopen in November 2026.

➡️ If you are a Class of 2026 graduate who has already submitted a Detroit Promise application, you can continue to log in to your account and complete any remaining verification requirements.

➡️ If you are a Class of 2026 graduate who has not submitted a Detroit Promise application, students planning to attend a four-year university are no longer eligible to apply, as application deadlines have passed. If you meet the eligibility requirements and plan to attend one of our partnering community colleges, please email [email protected] for next steps.
