‼️BIG ANNOUNCEMENT‼️

Help Us Get the New Southwest Mutual Aid Hub Stocked!

The Hub is a shared space where neighbors, neighborhood groups, and volunteers will work together coordinating efforts and distributing resources more effectively. The hub will provided a centralized location for receiving, storing and distributing essential resources like food pantry items, personal care and hygiene supplies, diapers and infant formula, overdose prevention kits, basic medical and health supplies and other household items.

Grace in Action Collectives and Church, Detroit People’s Assembly, Detroit Southwest Pride and Unity in our Community Timebank are supporting the coordination of the mutual aid hub to meet the growing needs of Southwest Detroit families. With your financial support we will be able to meet key needs for 100+ families for the next 6 months.

By supporting this hub, you help sustain community-led mutual aid in Southwest Detroit. Donations will go directly towards stocking our shelves with the essential items families are asking for.

¡Ayúdanos a abastecer el nuevo Centro de Ayuda Mutua del Suroeste!

Este centro es un espacio compartido donde vecinos, grupos vecinales y voluntarios colaborarán para coordinar esfuerzos y distribuir recursos de manera más eficaz. El centro servirá como punto centralizado para recibir, almacenar y distribuir recursos esenciales, tales como alimentos, artículos de higiene y cuidado personal, pañales y fórmula para bebés, kits de prevención de sobredosis, suministros médicos básicos y otros artículos para el hogar. Grace in Action Collectives and Church, Detroit People’s Assembly, Detroit Southwest Pride y Unity in our Community Timebank están coordinando este centro de ayuda mutua para atender las crecientes necesidades de las familias del suroeste de Detroit.

Hoy hemos repasado los 7 principios del cooperativismo con la cooperativa de limpieza recién formada, Go Pro Cleaning Co-op (estén atentos a su lanzamiento 🤫). Es fundamental basarnos en estos principios, ya que resumen de manera concreta la esencia de las cooperativas y pueden servirnos de guía cuando nos desviamos del camino.

Today we revisited the 7 principles of cooperativism with the newly formed cleaning co-op, Go Pro Cleaning Co-op (look out for their launch soon 🤫). It’s so important to ground ourselves in these principles because they concretly sum up cooperative ways of being and can be a north star when we stray away.

📣Calling all Metro Detroit Co-ops, Timebanks, Mutual Aid groups, collectives, and other solidarity economy groups to join us for the Detroit Solidarity Economy Assembly September 27th at 3pm at the General Baker Institute.

⭐️Come build a shared vision of the current and future Detroit solidarity economy ecosystem and and together we can map the work happening across the city.

2nd Annual YOUTH EXPO tomorrow!

Come out to support youth co-ops and local vendors! This expo is the culminating celebration of this summers Youth Cooperative Internship Program where 18 young people worked in teams to create five youth-led worker-owned cooperatives. The structure for cooperative is non-hierarchical and all profits are shared equally among the worker owners. There will also be 20 neighborhood vendors selling food, beverages and other artisanal items.
