The Coalition for Family and Children's Services in Iowa Our Mission: To Enhance the Collective Impact of Member Agencies' Services to Children and Families. These services are provided across the State of Iowa.

Our Vision: Families & Children in Iowa are safe, secure, healthy and well in their communities. The Coalition and its alliance of agencies provide a safety net to children and youth who have been abused/neglected, are in danger of abuse/neglect, may be or become delinquent, and have mental health needs.

Through the leadership of First Lady Melania Trump and her Fostering the Future initiative, children and youth in foster care now have a pathway to benefit from Trump Accounts, also referred to as Fostering the Future Accounts.

ACF and The U.S. Department of the Treasury issued new guidance to help states, tribes, and territories establish these accounts for eligible youth in foster care.

What a great way to start a Monday.

This morning I visited the ladies at Prairie City Christian Reformed Church who have been making quilts for Foster SQUAD care kits for years. Somehow, this was my first time meeting them in person.

As the founder of Foster SQUAD, moments like this never stop amazing me. It's incredible to walk into a room of people I've never met and see how deeply they're invested in our mission. These sweet women have been quietly using their talents to provide quilts to kids entering foster care.

One of the coolest things to witness is people finding their place in this world—the unique way they can use their gifts to make a difference. Not everyone is called to foster, but everyone has something they can contribute. These ladies found their way to serve, and countless children have benefited because of it.

My heart is full today. Thank you for believing in Foster SQUAD and for reminding me that there are so many good people working behind the scenes to support kids and families.

Iowa Democratic gubernatorial nominee Rob Sand announced Monday that Crawford County Supervisor and fifth-generation family farmer Dave Muhlbauer will join his ticket as the candidate for lieutenant governor in Iowa's 2026 race for governor.

Sand, Iowa's state auditor and the Democratic nominee for governor, introduced Muhlbauer as a lifelong Iowan with a record of public service and bipartisan cooperation in western Iowa.
