After more than a decade of prayer, planning and collaboration, Joppa Village is finally breaking ground in just two weeks on September 3, Joppa’s 18th anniversary!

Please note: This is an outdoor event at an active construction site. Please wear closed-toe shoes and dress for the conditions. The groundbreaking will take place rain or shine.

Joppa Village will provide permanent, affordable homes in an intentional community created specifically for people who have experienced chronic homelessness and have been left behind by traditional approaches.

More than housing, Joppa Village will offer neighbors the relationships, support and sense of belonging they need to rebuild their lives.

Thanks to grants and the generosity of early supporters, we’ve already raised enough to build the first five homes. At the groundbreaking, we’ll also launch the Joppa Village Capital Campaign to help build what comes next.

Joppa is growing, and we need a few items to help us make the most of donated goods to serve more people:

🏢 Warehouse storage space for pallet boxes, furniture and equipment�
🏗️ 3,000–4,000 lb. battery-powered forklift
⬆️ 12–15 ft. battery-powered scissor lift

Could your company help? Or do you know a business owner, warehouse manager, equipment dealer or contractor who might be willing to make a tax-deductible donation, offer a discount or make an introduction?

Your old vehicle could help someone build a new future.

Reliable transportation is often the missing piece that helps someone get a job, make it to medical appointments and move toward stable housing. That’s why Joppa accepts donated vehicles.

Donating is simple, and your gift may be tax-deductible. We’re looking for vehicles that are:
• Safe and reliable
• In good working condition with a clear title
• Able to pass a basic mechanical inspection

Right now, one of our clients is working hard to rebuild their life and needs dependable transportation to get to work.

Since 2016, Joppa has had the privilege of bringing more than 50 community leaders, partners and staff to experience Community First Village in Austin, Texas.

Each visit offers a firsthand look at a proven model where more than 80% of formerly chronically homeless neighbors who move into the Village remain housed for life. More importantly, these experiences help build a shared vision for what's possible here in central Iowa.

We’re grateful for the many community leaders, partners and supporters who have traveled with us, shared their ideas and expertise, and helped shape our vision for Joppa Village.

As an official Community First! Village replicator, we’re deeply grateful to the Mobile Loaves & Fishes team for generously sharing their wisdom, experience, and hospitality as they help communities like ours bring this proven model to life.
