Origin of Akyn: Akin- similar character/ related by blood
Akyn is an arts based organization that focuses on creating positive safe spaces and cultural environments for Black youth. We are creating these space through art events, community events, and more. Akyn is a necessary component within Iowa’s community and cultural climate. Akyn is created by the youth, for the youth. The organization is monumental in its functionality to provide more than just event spaces for Black youth. Akyn provides networking opportunities, cultural environments, safe spaces, artistic opportunities, community building, and economic growth in the Black community. Akyn is orchestrating a shift in Black culture to positively affect the youth.
The goal of Akyn is to change the culture for Black youth.
Akyn has plans to improve in every way imaginable and give back to Black youth in more ways than one. As Akyn continues to grow, it needs to be stated that the support is foeva preciated. Be on the lookout for future events and growth for Akyn. 🖤
