🌍 Global PFPC Spotlight: Jonathan Hoch, Sr.

💡 What Inspired Him to Join the Global PFPC
A member of the Stamford Hospital PFAC since 2012, Jon has witnessed firsthand the profound impact patients and families can have across healthcare — from shaping hospital design to influencing the culture of care. Watching Stamford Health earn Gold Certification time and again inspired him to think bigger. As a two-time cancer survivor who also cared for his wife through her own breast cancer journey, he has experienced the difference that compassionate, person-centered care can make — and the stark contrast when it's absent. Joining the Global Patient and Family Partnership Council in 2020 gave him the chance to help extend that quality of care to more patients and families everywhere. This commitment continued in 2021 when Jon joined the Planetree Board of Directors, adding a patient voice to the Governance of the organization.

❤️ What He Values About Being on the Global PFPC
For Jon, it's the people — a group of members he finds endlessly inspiring, united by a genuine commitment to co-design and better outcomes. He's proud of the Council's focus on far-reaching priorities like DEI in PFACs, the Guide to Co-Design, and resources that help patients and families feel informed and empowered in their care. Working at this broader, global level allows the Council to support local PFACs in finding a stronger voice and greater impact in their own health systems.

🎉 Fun Fact
For over 25 years, Jon volunteered as a youth baseball coach, currently leading a Little League Challenger team alongside his sons, Jack and Connor — a team built for kids with physical and intellectual challenges. Watching a player with Down syndrome get a hit or helping a teammate in a wheelchair round the bases is what keeps him coming back every season. When other coaches ask which player is his, he loves to answer: "All of them!"
