🇺🇸 CALL TO ACTION: Kansas Veterans — Your Voice Is Needed 🇺🇸
Kansas veterans and supporters, now is the time to show up and be heard.
The Kansas House Committee on Veterans & Military will meet on
📅 Thursday, February 12
⏰ 9:00 a.m.
📍 Room 281-N, Kansas State Capitol, Topeka to vote on HB 2214.
🔎 What HB 2214 Is Really About
HB 2214 would allow unaccredited, for-profit companies to charge veterans up to five times the amount of a veteran’s monthly VA benefit increase for help with VA disability claims — without requiring VA accreditation, oversight, or accountability.
These companies do not represent veterans before the VA, and if a claim later raises concerns, the veteran alone bears the consequences — not the company that collected the fee.
It is also important to note that at least one proponent of HB 2214 is currently involved in publicly reported litigation in their home state of North Carolina, including cases related to business practices and fees. These matters are ongoing and unresolved, but they underscore why oversight, transparency, and accountability matter when veterans’ benefits are involved.
