✈️ Want to be part of the air show with us?

Derby VFW Post 7253 is looking for volunteers to work our booth at Frontiers in Flight at McConnell AFB on October 24th and 25th! We’ll be out on the runway meeting people, talking about our VFW and the people we serve, and enjoying a pretty incredible day at the air show.

We have four shifts with room for ten volunteers in each. Bring a friend, pick a time that works for you, and come help us show the community who we are!

We’d love to have people on every shift, so take a look at all four times before you choose. If one has fewer names, jump in and help us fill it! ❤️🤍💙

Friday October 9th at 1900 (7PM) starts our watch for the Eisenhower Vigil. Here is the information put out by the department of Kansas. I encourage everyone to come out and help support this ceremony. Please disseminate this information to your post and auxiliary members. I look forward to seeing you there.

Join the VFW Department of Kansas **October 9–10** as we honor Dwight D. Eisenhower, our nation’s 34th President and five-star Army General, with an overnight vigil at the Eisenhower Gravesite and Place of Meditation in Abilene.
The vigil begins **Friday, October 9, at 4:30 p.m.** and continues through **Saturday, October 10, at 7:00 a.m.** VFW members, Auxiliary members, Military Order of the Cootie and Auxiliary members, and invited guests are encouraged to participate.
**District vigil schedule:**
• 4:30–5:00 p.m. — Department Commander and Auxiliary President
• 5:00–7:00 p.m. — District 4
• 7:00–9:00 p.m. — District 5
• 9:00–11:00 p.m. — District 2
• 11:00 p.m.–1:00 a.m. — District 3
• 1:00–3:00 a.m. — District 7
• 3:00–5:00 a.m. — District 1
• 5:00–7:00 a.m. — District 6
Please arrive at the chapel **15 minutes before your assigned vigil time**. Help maintain a quiet and respectful atmosphere around the chapel.
**Dress attire:**
• **VFW:** VFW cap, slacks, white shirt with tie, and black shoes; blazer optional. A suit is also appropriate.
• **Auxiliary:** Official blue blouse/shirt or white blouse/shirt, with black pants, slacks, or skirt. Black dress sandals are permitted; no flip-flops. A black blazer or suit coat is optional depending on the weather.
• **Military Order of the Cootie:** Cap, white slacks, white shirt with tie, and white shoes; red blazer optional.
☕ **VFW Post 3279**, located at **317 N. Spruce Street in Abilene**, will serve as our rally point and remain open throughout the night, providing food, coffee, and refreshments.
