We had the honor of presenting our 2026 scholarship to Jeana Jacobucci. Jeana is a graduate of Derby High School and is planning to attend The University of Kansas in the Fall. Rock Chalk!

We had a great time at the Derby Lions Club program meeting today. Here are the highlights!
- We inducted our new Lions Member Anne Phillips, USD 260 Board of Education to our club. Anne is active in the community and we are so excited to have her join! Anne is pictured with the fantastic Brock Stuhlsatz who is finishing up his presidential term.

- We heard from Butch at the Derby Historical Museum who shared some Derby (El Paso) history. I was struck during the meeting at how quickly we could lose our roots without the intentional efforts of that group. They are in a capital campaign right now to preserve our access to that valuable information. There is an anonymous donor match until June 1st (up to a limit). Send us a PM if you need help connecting with them.

- Heather Bohaty was with us today and reminded us of the extraordinarily popular Community Garage sale. There are a few days left to donate items and they need volunteer help during the garage sale. Rotary Club of Derby, KS has a slam dunk partnership with Derby Schools to impact food insecure children!

Derby Lions Club has had a great start to the year! Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to our Founding Lion, Charlie Cadwell. Charlie helped start the Derby Noon Lions Club in 2009. Since that time, he has provided guidance to the Club and has helped build it into what it is today.

Charlie is moving to Minnesota to be closer to family and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors. He will definitely be missed in the community and in our Club.

Lion Austin made this beautiful charcuterie board with signatures of our members as a going away gift for Charlie.

Great program meeting today for the Derby Lions! We were able to induct new member Reegan Smith. Reegan’s sponsor was Sean Smith (her husband 😊). We are very excited to have her join the Club! President Brock Stuhlsatz also did a great job reviewing the many different programs/events that the Club is involved in each year. It was apparent that Lions are doing several great things in the Derby community.

Thank you to the Derby Historical Museum for hosting our 16th birthday party. The Christmas Tree Gala at Hubbard Arts Center is wonderful again this year and we recommend checking out this wonderful community event!

A big thanks to Derby Chamber of Commerce folks for a fun event on Saturday! The Lions club had the opportunity to debut a new canopy! We aren’t sure why our roadkill chili was not selected as top prize?! The seasoning was just right. 😉We are looking for additional members so we can grow our community impact! Shoot us a message if you want to meet some of us at our next meeting!
