A few months ago, we were able to present the keys to a new home to a family who lost everything in McDowell County during Hurricane Helene. It took us along with many other partners over a year to get this project complete. We hit every road block imaginable. But then we hosted the most perfect homecoming and blessed the home with prayers. Volunteers and organizations from all over, whom all had a hand in this project attended and it was a glorious afternoon. AND somehow, we forgot to share it with you all.

So here’s a few snapshots ♥️

Yesterday, Governor Stein signed the NC budget which included millions of dollars of aid going to nonprofits and Hurricane Helene restoration. Thank you WYFF News 4 for taking the time to interview one of our Disaster Case Managers, Celestiel East Balson and feature one of our homes we’re assisting rebuilding. It was a full circle moment.

This home is in partnership with Swannanoa Christian Church, one of our top hard working, relentless partners whose church members work day in and day out to serve families impacted by Hurricane Helene. Along with Mennonite Disaster Service. Because together, we can make a difference 🫶

We hope and pray these funds get allocated appropriately and help us all rebuild WNC ♥️

Gov. Josh Stein signed a new North Carolina budget, allocating over $700 million to Hurricane Helene relief efforts in western counties, including funding for housing, infrastructure, and nonprofit support.

This week our Founder, Lauren Athey Dellinger spent the day doing site visits on our 10 rebuilds. It’s hard to believe we’re approaching almost 2 years since Hurricane Helene tore through WNC but it’s amazing to witness the progress we’ve been as a small organization and the partnerships and communities that have brought us together! It truly takes a village ♥️
