As we continue to prepare for our upcoming concert, The Four Freedoms: Celebrating 250 Years of American Voices, we are proud to spotlight a hero from the family of our chorus member, Bonnie Brown. We want to honor her son, Caleb Brown, who has dedicated his life to protecting others both around the world and right here in our local community.

Caleb is a Senior Airman in the US Air Force Reserves, where he has served for five years. He holds the critical role of Crew Chief on a refueling tanker and is currently deployed in the Middle East.

When Caleb is not answering the call of duty overseas, he is serving on the front lines at home as a firefighter with the Hickory Fire Department.

Whether he is maintaining aircraft in the desert or keeping our local neighborhoods safe, Caleb's commitment to service is truly inspiring. Please join us in sending our deepest gratitude to Bonnie for sharing her son's story, and let’s keep Caleb in our thoughts for a safe return home.

Our chorus community is filled with incredible stories, and today we are honored to share a glimpse into the family of our member, Paul Petit. We want to take a moment to salute Paul's brother, Colonel Gene Pettit (Ret.), who dedicated over 30 years of exceptional service to the US Air Force.

Colonel Pettit’s military career is nothing short of legendary. As a fearless fighter pilot, he flew with the 325th Fighter Interceptor Squadron and was stationed at various bases across the United States and Germany. He went on to serve his country in the Vietnam conflict, shared his expertise as both a training officer and a Quality Control officer, and later served as a vital Military Attaché to Pakistan. He ultimately completed his distinguished three-decade career at the Pentagon, retiring at the rank of Colonel.

The dedication that defined his military career hasn't slowed down a bit. At 91 years young, Colonel Pettit is still going strong and remains actively running his own real estate business.

As we prepare for our upcoming concert, The Four Freedoms: Celebrating 250 Years of American Voices, we are proud to honor Col. Pettit’s lifelong service.

Please join us in thanking Paul for sharing his brother's incredible journey, and let's send a collective, heartfelt thank you to Colonel Pettit for his decades of brave service and leadership.

Freedom is a family affair for our chorus member, Karen Taylor. Today, we are incredibly proud to honor two remarkable servicemen in her family.

Included in our post is a photo of Karen’s father, Raymond Leslie Fairbanks, who served with distinction in the US Navy.

We are also highlighting her nephew, Tyler Craven, who is carrying that torch of dedication today. Tyler is a career serviceman who has been in the US Marine Corps for 15 years and is currently stationed in California.

As we prepare for The Four Freedoms: Celebrating 250 Years of American Voices, we are grateful to honor both past and present service through families like Karen’s. Their stories remind us that the blessings of freedom have been protected across generations.

Thank you, Karen, for sharing these photos with us, and a profound thank you to your family for their decades of service and sacrifice.

We are honored to share a glimpse into the family history of one of our chorus members, Diane Simpson. These incredible photos tell the story of her father, Raymond Hands, and his dedicated service in the US Navy during WWII.

Raymond served his country with dedication, spending time stationed in Hawaii before serving primarily in the Philippines. He was discharged in August 1946 and was awarded the Victory Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal for his service.

Diane has graciously shared two meaningful pieces of her family history. The first is a treasured photo Raymond sent to her mother before they were married, signed simply, “Love, Raymond.” The second is a remarkable image from the naval base on Manicani Island, showing battleship positions during his time in service.

As we prepare for our upcoming concert, The Four Freedoms: Celebrating 250 Years of American Voices, we are grateful to honor Raymond’s legacy and remember the courage and sacrifice of those who served during World War II. Please join us in honoring his memory and thanking Diane for sharing these special glimpses into her family’s history.
