We don’t often get to celebrate moments like this one. When we do, it means the world to us to bring together a family and the many teams who came together on a nearly tragic day to save the life of 2-year-old Johnny.
Earlier this week, we shared that minutes matter. In Johnny’s case, they truly did. His grandmother, trained in CPR, started compressions right away. Dispatchers guided the response from the first call. Then came the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office, Virginia, MCVRS, and the LifeEvac team, who quickly flew Johnny to VCU. During those minutes, when everything felt like it was going wrong for the Louthen family, Johnny was in the best possible hands.
We train for moments like these, but we always hope we never face them. That’s why we encourage everyone to get CPR certified. Martha Bernard, Johnny’s grandmother, acted quickly, and that gave Johnny his best chance while first responders were on their way.
Thank you to everyone who played a part in bringing Johnny home.
