Rappahannock River Railroaders

Another successful morning for the Rappahannock River Railroaders mobile train display in Kilmarnock. The weather cooperated completely to make it a great event for everyone. Several groups of youngsters took their turns around the display viewing the trains in motion. The model railroad members in attendance had a great time putting on the show for the youngsters. Many thanks to the staff at the Lancaster Community Library for hosting our mobile train display. Also, the model train mobile display will be at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury on Friday (16) morning in Irvington, VA.

Appreciate everyone that came out to the IRVINGTON FARMERS MARKET on Saturday, July 4. It was very warm as predicted, but all of us volunteers working the Rappahannock River Railroaders mobile train display near the Steamboat Museum want to thank all that stopped by our display. We were pleased with the number of people that visited the market in general. One of the pictures shows a few of our members caught sitting for a break just before it was time to take our display down and exit. Thanks to the Market Organizers for another successful event for us. And next year?

IRVINGTON FARMER'S MARKET on Saturday, July 4, 2026, beginning at 9am. The Rappahannock River Railroaders Mobile Trailer layout will be on display at the market! The weather forecast is calling for temps in the 90s by the time we close at 1pm. Come early and enjoy the market and our Mobile Trailer display.
The Rappahannock River Railroaders will also be selling raffle tickets for our year end giveaway of a Lionel Polar Express trainset. This raffle is our primary source of income for our model railroad club. This helps keep our mobile display healthy for the miles we put on the trailer. Many thanks from us to all that contribute to the well-being of the Rappahannock River Railroaders.

Does our Model Railroad Club get together and just run trains? (And talk, of course.) At our Deltaville club house? This Tuesday, April 7, our Deltaville home will be open just for running trains! (And talk, of course.) From 6p to 7:30p Tuesday evening, bring your HO or Lionel O Gauge trains if you wish, or just come and watch the others run trains. (And talk, of course.)

There is no admission fee. There won’t be a business meeting while running trains. (But there will be talk, of course.) You won’t find tracks ripped apart because of some problem. Just come and run your trains or watch our trains roll at our clubhouse, 83 Ball Park Rd, right next to the Deltaville Ball Park.

NOTE: our club house is not ADA accessible. You will need to ascend a flight of stairs to get to our showroom. (And talk to the members, of course.)
Come Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 6p to 7:30p and just enjoy model trains.

Our HO guys finally have a camera that can ride on the trains. We'll begin showing you what our club HO layout really looks like.

Saturday, February 14, 2026, is the next club meeting for the Rappahannock River Railroaders. The meeting will begin at 9:30a. Our model railroad home is 83 Ball Park Rd in Deltaville, next to the Deltaville Ballpark. What's on our agenda? What else? Model Railroading!! And the business of running our model railroad in our clubhouse and our mobile display. A new agenda item is organizing club trips to other model railroad places and maybe even a trip to see the Union Pacific Big Boy when it travels east this summer.
If you are thinking of joining our model railroad club, stop by and visit our meeting and maybe check out our model railroad upstairs. For 2026 we have a new club President, Jim. In the outdoor picture he's on the left. The man on the right is our Vice President Joe. This is his second year as the V.P. The other picture shows Joe and his brother, Bob, setting up the HO layout on our mobile trailer display last month at Richmond Speedway. Stop by Saturday morning and visit with our two lead officers. What's good about belonging to the Rappahannock River Railroaders?
