We need volunteers. A bunch of volunteers.

Every time Common Ground is open, we need about 20 volunteers to make it all happen—sorting donations, stocking shelves, helping shoppers, serving meals, and keeping everything moving.

You don’t have to volunteer every week. You don’t need special skills. You don’t even have to know what you’re doing when you walk in. We’ll show you the ropes. We just need people to show up!

Thank you Karen with LOSS Community Services for your informative presentation on su***de and grief among older adults. A very timely and important discussion during Su***de Prevention Awareness Month.

The session covered ways to invite mourning rather than avoid it: making grief visible, giving it words, making space for it to be felt. The room was made up mostly of social workers from SourcePoint, along with others who joined to learn about supporting an aging community through loss. Postvention is prevention.

Karen brought “Hope” the dragon. This amazingly large and beautifully crocheted dragon was created by a parent mourning the loss of a child who completed su***de. Grief is real and we must make space for it, hope is the way through.
