DCBDD Levy Fact: What services are funded?

Local levy dollars help fund a range of services and supports for people with developmental disabilities throughout their lives, including:
- Early Intervention: Coaching and developmental supports for infants and toddlers with developmental delays, helping children build skills and supporting families.
- Personal care and daily living: Assistance with everyday activities such as bathing, getting dressed, preparing meals, and toileting.
- Employment supports: Skills training, on-site job coaching, and assistance with maintaining employment.
- Home accessibility and safety: Modifications such as ramps, transfer lifts, and vehicle hand controls.
- Transportation and community participation: Supports that help people access transportation, participate in community activities, and stay connected.

With the right supports, people with developmental disabilities can:
- Live personally fulfilling lives
- Work in local businesses
- Volunteer in the community
- Participate in recreation and civic life

These supports promote independence while strengthening families and the broader community.

This WorkforceWednesday, we’re celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month by highlighting value and talent in action at Nationwide Children's Hospital!

Through Project SEARCH, Kamden and Santerio are gaining hands-on experience while making their own mark on the workplace.

Kamden is completing his first internship with the grounds crew, helping keep the hospital grounds looking their best while building new skills along the way. Santerio is working in Urgent Care, where his maturity, independence, and dedication have made such an impression that his team already doesn’t want to see him go!

Two different roles, two different experiences, and a great reminder of what NDEAM celebrates: recognizing the talent people with disabilities bring to the workplace and creating opportunities for them to put it into action.

Annual independent financial audits
State compliance reviews
Five-year financial forecasting
Continuous performance and service monitoring
