SIGN-UPS FOR OUR PHILIPPINE FOLK DANCE SUMMER ACADEMY ARE STILL OPEN💃🏽 For folks who are already signed up, logistics emails have been sent to you from [email protected].

✨Our summer academy is kicking off in 1 WEEK✨ Join us for a summer of dance! Drop-ins are welcome during week 1. If your students or family are joining, please print and sign the permission slip at the QR Code and bring it to practice on the first day. Practices are being held at the DHS Dance Room. See the map on slide 2.

💃🏽DANCES, PROPS, AND PRACTICE TIMES💃🏽
🧣LAGA - GRADES K-5, BEGINNER. 1:30-2:30PM. Each student must bring a scarf.
🧺GAWAYGAWAY - ALL LEVELS, INTERMEDIATE PREFERRED. 2:30-3:30PM. Girls must bring a book and wear a flowy skirt if available.
☂️KINAKTULANGAN - GRADES 6-12 PREFERRED, INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED. 3:30-4:30PM. Each student must bring an umbrella. Girls should bring two bandanas or similar cloth if available.

$200 FUNDRAISED! OUR NEW GOAL IS $500✨
Thank you so much to our friends and family who donated to our youth team thus far! $200 is enough to help us cover insurance costs for our venues this summer. We've updated our goal to $500, and have many more group dares ready to complete! Additional donations would help support reservation fees and janitorial costs for our venues for our Summer Academy and July 18th Showcase. We're accepting donations for bingo dares through to the end of the month.

HOW DO BINGO DARES WORK?
Under each $ column is a dare. You would donate the column header amount to a member so they can do a dare. For example, "I donate $1 to a member to do a handstand and a cartwheel." Once a donation and dare is received, the member will do the dare and post a video to social media.

NOTE**: If you are donating for someone to do a dare, contact the FANHS member you are daring first. Only use Zeffy if you are NOT requesting a dare and want to donate in general.

FANHS Delano visits Kayamanan Ng Lahi for the BINHI Program Dance Intensive!

Thank you, again to Kayamanan Ng Lahi for having us yesterday for a full-day of culture, unity, and dance! We all absolutely loved and appreciated learning about KNL, the KNL9, and the KNL way. We appreciate all the mentorship you have provided us and thank you for welcoming us into your community!

Thank you to Auntie Pin for making the initial connection between us and KNL, and thank you to Agnes, Albert, Alyssa, Deanne, Jay, Katie, Lauren, Quincy, Wilfredo, and Terry for driving down to participate in the program!

Happy Philippine Independence Day!

Today marks the 128th anniversary of Philippine independence from Spain after 333 years of colonization. The start of this impactful story began after Spanish authorities discovered the Katipunan, an organization founded by revolutionary leader Andres Bonifacio. Upon this discovery, Bonifacio and other Katipuneros tore up their community tax certificates in protest - signaling the start of the Philippine Revolution. After years of hard-fought conflict and the Spanish-American War, General Emilio Aguinaldo declared independence from Spain on June 12th, 1898. Today signifies the resilience, spirit, and pride of the Filipino people as the flag was first flown.

From the fight for independence for the Philippines to the fight for Filipino rights in the Filipino diaspora, we honor those before us who set the precedent for resilience and resistance. We, at FANHS Delano, understand the importance of knowing our history and how the past is a reflection of our future, so we will continue to stand for the rights and freedom by sharing our culture the best we can! Mabuhay!

Our Fil-Am Youth Engagement team (FAYE) has taken to Instagram to fundraise for our summer projects! Bringing back a college classic - Fundraiser Bingo Dares challenge - FAYE members are accepting donations and in return will complete various dares.
