No one has to ride the trail alone. 🤎🐴
Saddle Up for Hope was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together.
This year, we truly had all hands on deck, and we’re incredibly grateful for every volunteer who showed up, stepped in, and helped make the day possible. Whether it was helping with the horses, guiding riders, or simply being there to lend a hand, every person played a part.
We’re also incredibly grateful for the support of County Commissioner Kerr Wardlaw, who stood alongside us and even stepped in to help handle Nishka. Moments of support like these mean so much to us.
Thank you to the 47th FTW Prevention Office, USO, and HUNT Housing for partnering with us, and to everyone who came out and rode alongside us.

🤍 A Little Scare... and a Happy Update

A few weeks ago, Betty had an unexpected accident during one of her routine hoof care appointments.

Because she was lightly sedated so we could safely work on rehabilitating her hoof, she became unsteady, lost her balance, and unfortunately struck her head. As a precaution, our veterinarian treated the wound with staples to help it heal properly.

While it was certainly a scary moment for all of us, we're so happy to share that Betty has made a full recovery and is now completely healed.

Rescue isn't always a straight path. Even routine care can come with unexpected challenges, but moments like these remind us why experienced veterinary care and close monitoring are so important.

Today, Betty is back to enjoying life, continuing her rehabilitation, and reminding us every day just how resilient she is.

🌧️ Weather Preparedness Update 🤎🐴

The recent rain has brought much-needed moisture to our area, but it also reminds us how quickly conditions can change.

As a precaution, we have temporarily relocated Epona and Pearl to higher, safer ground due to the potential for flooding over the next few days. While we hope these extra measures won't be necessary, the safety and well-being of our horses will always be our highest priority.

At Hold Your Horses Association, we believe that being prepared is just as important as responding to an emergency. That means having evacuation plans, monitoring weather conditions closely, and making thoughtful decisions before situations become dangerous.

We ask our community to keep all livestock, pets, and the families affected by this weather in your thoughts and prayers. If severe weather impacts your area, please remember to have a plan in place for your animals as well.

Thank you for continuing to support our mission and for standing beside us through every season. We'll continue to keep you updated and, as always, our team is committed to doing everything we can to keep our horses safe.

🤍 Betty Update 🤍

Yesterday, Betty gave us quite a scare after showing signs of colic. Thanks to recognizing the symptoms early, acting quickly, and working closely with our veterinarian, we were able to get her the care she needed.

Today, we're happy to share that Betty is looking so much better! 🤍

She's bright, eating well, drinking water, and acting much more like herself. While we'll continue to keep a close eye on her over the next few days, we're incredibly grateful for the progress she's made in just 24 hours.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who reached out, sent prayers, and kept Betty in your thoughts. Your encouragement means so much to our team, and we're reminded every day how special this community truly is.

Moments like these are a powerful reminder of how important it is to recognize the signs of colic early. Quick action can make all the difference.

Thank you for continuing to walk alongside Betty on her journey. She still has a road ahead of her, but today we're celebrating a very good day. 🤎🐴

Nearly five months ago, Betty arrived at Hold Your Horses Association underweight, in need of hoof care, and unsure of the future that lay ahead.

Today, we're celebrating just how far she's come.

With the guidance of our veterinarian and farrier, Betty has been working through her hoof rehabilitation while steadily gaining strength and confidence. More importantly, she's begun something that can't be measured on a scale or seen on an X-ray—she's learning to trust.

The once timid mare who kept her distance now greets us with curiosity and allows us to be part of her healing journey. Those quiet moments of trust remind us why rescue work is so meaningful.

Like every rescue, Betty's path hasn't been without challenges. During a recent routine treatment, she accidentally struck her head and required a few staples. Thankfully, she received immediate veterinary care and is recovering well. Setbacks happen, but they don't define the journey.

Every day Betty teaches us that healing isn't about perfection—it's about progress.

Thank you to everyone who has followed her story, shared our posts, volunteered, donated, and believed in horses like Betty. Because of your support, she has the opportunity to heal at her own pace and continue becoming the horse she was always meant to be.
