3 weekend's ago we were so excited to spend a wonderful time with two beautiful and intelligent young ladies who came to visit us at Casa Esperanza for the first time.
Laura has her own coffee shop & she's a PK in San Antonio, where her parents pastor Life Share Church. We first made the connection when Charis and Miguel came to visit us and brought several pastors along to spend a few days getting to know us and the ministry. Several months later, Laura and Evelyn who works for NASA, came to spend the weekend with us—and what an awesome time we had!
From the moment they arrived, they just “fitted.” Sometimes people come and it takes a little while for everyone to get comfortable with each other. Not with these two. They jumped right in and quickly became part of the Casa Esperanza family.
Saturday morning they helped get the girls ready for the day, including styling their hair—which is quite a task when you have a house full of girls with beautiful, thick, long hair! 😊 Evelyn got outside and played some soccer with the children, and there was plenty of time just hanging out with them and watching TV.
Craft time was especially fun. These ladies came prepared! They even brought plastic aprons so the children could paint without ruining their clothes. 👏👏 Each child painted and decorated their own little canvas bag, and they were so proud of what they created.
Laura also has an amazing artistic gift. She sat down and drew portraits of many of our children. The kids loved seeing themselves come to life on paper, and it was such a special personal touch.
But I think what Ronnie and I enjoyed most was simply getting to spend quality time with these two young ladies. They didn’t come just to “do something” for the children. They came to love on them, laugh with them, play with them, and become part of their world for a weekend.
And they did exactly that.
We certainly hope this was only their first of many visits to Casa Esperanza. ❤️
