Blackberry was the heavily pregnant mama that gave birth about an hour before her trip to Jen. We noticed she was postioning herself as if she was compensating for and suspected a birthing injury and unfortunately we were correct. The technical terminology fell right out of my head as I got in my car to come home so im going to double check with Dr. Ford before even attempting to explain all of it.

The area where the arrow is pointing is the worst spot but the is some remodeling (the bone ks trying to repair itself) happening. She will however need to be on pains meds for life though.

The right side of her pelvis also shifted during one of her labors. Hopefully it will correct itself now that isn't a baby making machine anymore.

Yesterday really wiped us out so if anyone would like to toss a little something our way for weekend veggies, that would be geat!

We have a bit of good news to share! Raspberry came up to me over the weekend and I strongly suspected she had a past birthing injury. Dr. Ford confirmed my suspicions that she was almost definitely pregnant at some point in her life and it did some damage to her spine. Obviously that is not the good part. She's healthy in every other respect so we reached out to one of our amazing past adopters who recently adopted her half sister and they agreed to adopt her too! She will need to be on pain meds for life but they are up to the challenge!
And since they recently moved near me, I get to smooch on them from time to time!

Beaker is home!!

We have some cautiously good news for our new friend. We used the ultrasound and based on what we saw and looking at the cells under a microscope, it looks Beaker has a thyroid tumor with vascular involvement. We will need to do a blood draw and biopsy to confirm but since that requires some anesthesia we will focus on getting him healthier and stronger over the next couple of weeks. If a thyroid mass is confirmed we can manage that with medication and it should help shrink everything down to a much more comfortable size.

He does have a slight URI, a nasty case of lice, arthritis and just overall doesn't feel great. We gave him a dose of Revolution and will continue pain meds and antibiotics and some recovery food for just a general boost in vitamins.

I scheduled some posts to pop up while I'm at the vet today. Our appt is early this time so I'll have updates in the afternoon. In the meantime, here is Autum enjoying her c+c cage. I felt so much better yesterday and I was able to power through a lot (but holy moly there is so much left to do). So she is out of the temp cage and in something bigger and I am finally tossing that temp cage that im forever tripping over!

While I was sick (I feel much better today but still barely have a voice) I missed sharing Tally's anniversary with us. Tally transferred to us from a rescue failing to meet her needs. She and her cagemate were kept in a teeny cage in what amounted to a closet, under a tiny desk stored in there. They told me she had urine scald because her arthritis was so bad she could barely move. That she was old and would die really soon. I brought her to our vet asap and found out her arthritis was so mild, she didnt even need pain meds for it. And look who's still here at almost 8 years old! And guess who can zoom like a youngster at almost 8 years old? I'm so grateful we could offer her a proper retirement home. She's such a happy, extra special girl. Love you Tally!

I don't know what tomorrow will bring for Beaker. Maybe his giant neck mass will be easy peasy or maybe we'll be facing a tough decision. But I decided today would be his best day ever just incase and if it all works out for the best, then he'll just continue having best days ever.

We are still a little short for tomorrow so of you can share some love, we'd appreciate it.

We have our 5 newbies being seen at Southern Maine tomorrow! I didnt even get to finish introducing everyone with how tired I have been! Ill try to finish that today! We have almost enough to cover everyone but we will need imaging for at least 2 of them so if we can drum up an extra $200 that would be incredible!
