I thought it would be difficult.

7 month old PICKLES had been in our care for months battling mycoplasma, upper respiratory symptoms and periods of lethargy. Months of various medications and all too frequent blood testing that seemed endless. . A wonderful foster who loved him and followed the regimented medications daily. A true labor of love.

PICKLES one of the sweetest but most submissive kitties I have ever known fought like a champ to overcome his setbacks. He would just melt like a marshmallow and bury his head in the crook of your arm when he was nestled on your lap.

But it would take someone with patience, empathy and insight to see this boys true personality.

This too was an unexpected, but wonderful, outcome for one of our most precious kitties.

The approved adopters had an afternoon off and asked if I was in so they could stop by. I said absolutely but was not confident they would find a kitty they would connect with…

I was so happy to be wrong.

Matt & Jillian arrived mid afternoon. We only had a few kitties in house so there was not a huge selection.

I brought them into the room with Pickles and one other kitty and shared their history and personalities. I explained “you may not see Pickles”. He will hide under the chair and is very submissive (but will melt like butter if you can get him on your lap).

I left them for 30 minutes before I came back in to check on everything.

And then I snapped this photo.

Matt & Jillian did not need to see any other kitties. PICKLES was everything they wanted. And it was obvious they were just what PICKLES ever wanted too. ❤️❤️❤️

It was a mistake that was supposed to happen.

It was a long 12 long hour day filled with early morning vet exams, paperwork, taking care of kitties and doing adoptions. I thought to myself “I can do one more adoption” before days end. I messaged the adopters looking to adopt an awesome cat named Cooper. I made arrangements for 5:15 pm yesterday. They asked if another kitty named “Lainey” had passed her health exam and I replied “yes” but thought to myself that was odd since they never expressed an interest in her.

I ran home and grabbed a quick bite to eat. At 5:15 I pulled into the PTR parking lot & met a wonderful couple and their young son. I remember thinking “hmmmm….I didn’t realize this couple had a son”. I asked how the traffic was coming from Concord and they responded they lived right down the road. I gulped…realizing I contacted the wrong adopters.

Well…we will just go with the flow I said to myself.

I never cry at adoptions. NEVER.

But l did yesterday.

What I experienced was nothing short of divine intervention.

Kelly & Josh and their son Colton introduced themselves. We headed into PTR just like any other planned adoption.

But this wasn’t planned (at least on my end).

They wanted to meet Lainey (the kitty with the saddest eyes ever). Lainey had been sick for months and finally was ready for her family.

Colton sat on the floor. A smile came to his face. Lainey was a bit overwhelmed but young Colton saw thru that…and realized that Lainey might just need a little time.

He said “she is beautiful”.

I left the room leaving him with a Churo, laser light and feather wand.

When I returned he said “I love her”. But then both mom and I witnessed a profound sadness. Colton’s heart was struggling . He was trying to process much more than a 10 year old should have to process.

He held back his tears and said “I miss Ashley”. Ashley had been “”his” cat since he was born. His comrade and constant companion who shared his secrets and slept next to him every night. Ashley raised him and always kept a watchful eye over him since he was born.

Ashley had passed 8 weeks ago.

And here was Colton trying to reconcile his heart and hold back his tears. I felt privy to witness his pain in looking at Lainey…and feeling the loss of Ashley so very deeply at the same time. I just sat as his sadness consumed my heart. I had no words of wisdom to impart. Some things just take time.

I had the time.

They arrived at 5:15. At 7:15 we signed the adoption paperwork. Colton was ready (and smiling). Lainey was ready. She would heal Colton’s heart. And Lainey would have a family.

And me? I believe Ashley and the universe were in cahoots together.
Colton, mom & dad and Lainey left at 7:30 pm. At 7:31 pm I cried.

Last night Lainey slept with Colton. Today they started their forever.

Mom messaged me earlier saying “Lainey was exactly who they were waiting for”.

And my heart was oh so very happy.❤️❤️❤️

SCOOTER….Look at this handsome boy!

SCOOTER is most Definately an Abyssinian /Tabby mix with his gorgeous sandy cinnamon/tan coat. This boy is simply striking and has the “biggest” little eyes.

SCOOTER is 15 weeks old and just a tad shy as he acclimates to his new environment (just arrived on a flight from Florida) but is extremely playful and allows sweet snuggles. In just a couple of days we anticipate he will be begging for all the love and attention he deserves. ❤️

BELLA (DORA the Explorer) is ready for her family….

What a little sweetheart! ❤️

Whether it's on your lap or perched on your shoulder 6 month old BELLA is quite insistent on your affection and attention. Not only is she proficient at shoulder balancing but she excels at biscuit making and purring at the same time.

And to top it off her exploration skills are undeniable!

We are very grateful to Wings of Rescue for flying a couple of very precious kittens from FL to NH today.

We are also grateful for volunteers who sing polish lullabies to kittens who just arrived from a long plane flight.

Thank you all for your kindness and compassion. And welcome to little SCOOTER and SAMMY. ❤️❤️❤️

The most beautiful adoption….

12 week old BOGEY & 10 month old AMBER did not know each other prior to arriving at Pet Tails Rescue last week. But they became very quick friends and sweet AMBER took to mothering and caring for little BOGEY. I would find them snuggled up in a single bed every time I entered the room.

BOGEY already had a home waiting….

But then I posted AMBER (never mentioning the bond she developed with little BOGEY).
I returned home to my office to check my messages, emails etc.
There was a message from BOGEY’S pending family asking if they could adopt AMBER along with little BOGEY…

Are you kidding me? This is the universe absolutely working its magic in such fantastic and marvelous ways….

And I am always amazed…

Congratulations to little BOGEY and beautiful AMBER on their new family with momma Tamra and daddy Chuck.

The universe granted your wishes ❤️❤️❤️

ADOPTION PENDING

OPAL & her brother ONYX will be 8 weeks old next week and will be ready for their family.

2 lbs of pure innocent sweetness….

These beautiful spunky long haired beauties were found at a local barn when they were just about 3 weeks old. A couple of wonderful foster moms have taken turns raising them over the past several weeks and now they are ready for us to find a loving home we can pass the torch to…

ONYX is the tuxedo boy who will instigate the sweetest little boxing matches with his sister OPAL. OPAL on the other side of things is a clown with her silly antics and somewhat “persistent” demands. They absolutely adore each other and crave all the snuggles and nose kisses they can get!

Bonded and will be adopted together.
