☁️🛩️ Overcast skies couldn't stop us today! Despite cloud coverage through most of the morning and afternoon, it turned out to be a fantastic training day at the field. 14 flights logged and the temperature was absolutely perfect.

Big smiles all around, both on the ground and in the cockpit! 🙌

Ken Merrill had a spectacular flight on Friday! 🛩️ Flying his Ventus 2c 18m out of Deer Park airport, Ken covered 355 miles over 6 hours and 44 minutes at an average speed of 54 mph — scoring 602 OLC points on a beautiful triangle course through central Washington.
This is exactly the kind of cross-country soaring we're all striving for, and it's a perfect example of why Deer Park is such a fantastic launch point for big flights. Congratulations, Ken!

Yesterday's conditions were great — hour-plus flights were the norm, with most pilots deploying dive brakes when they were ready to come down rather than running out of lift.

Sara completed her declared task, and both she and John climbed to around 8,000 ft over Deer Park.

Sara and John use their own WeGlide account and LXNAV tracker to record their flights and spot areas to improve. The first image shows their flights together; the next two show each on its own.

If you want to track and analyze your own flying, it's well worth setting up your own — a great tool for getting better!

Weather grounded us early this weekend, but that just meant more hangar time with the club's newest toy: our Mach 0.1 Cockpit simulator. 🦅
Members took turns strapping into the VR headset and flying Condor 3, and the verdict is in — it's startlingly realistic. The visuals, the controls, the feel of working a thermal… it's all there. A fantastic new tool for training, currency, and honestly, just having fun when the sky won't cooperate.

What a fantastic day of flying on Saturday! We had nice long flights with thermals pumping up to 5 knots of lift — doesn't get much better than that.

Rein enjoyed a great discovery flight with Chris, who's already planning to join the club. Welcome aboard, Chris!

And a big congratulations to Sara, who took her first flight in her 1-26 and was grinning ear to ear. There's nothing quite like that feeling!
