🍑 Penticton Peach Festival 2026 🍑
The girls, along with visiting royalty, started the weekend by attending the Miss Penticton Program. This photo was taken after the program, with an eerie orange glow filling the sky from a fire burning in Summerland, just 17 minutes away.
The emergency alerts felt like August 1st all over again.
At 3:30 a.m., an emergency alert came through: Summerland — GO NOW to Penticton, along with an evacuation address. More than 17,000 people began arriving in Penticton, filling parking lots as families sought safety.
By 6:30 a.m., we were notified that the parade and all Peach Festival events had been cancelled.
We left Deer Park on Friday, August 7, with heavy hearts, thinking about everyone impacted by the Spokane Complex Fire.
On August 8, we left Penticton with those same heavy hearts—this time thinking about the people of Summerland.
Two communities. Two fires. Two reminders of how quickly life can change.
Our thoughts are with the families, first responders, volunteers, and communities affected on both sides of the border. ❤️🇺🇸🇨🇦
