Photos 1-2: Artist Peter Beerits gives insight into how he crafts his world of art at Nervous Nellies--art that is truly fantastic, beautiful, strange and delightful all at once.

Photos 3-4: Nathaniel Sharp, bird and bug enthusiast and a great guide, talks about the world of insects right around us at Mariner's Memorial Park-including taking a moment to admire a bumble bee up close!

Photo 5: A birder admires something through binoculars--wonder what had appeared?

IHT would like to thank M.D. Joyce & Co and Coast of Maine Organic Products, Inc for their generous contribution of soil to our nursery. The Deer Isle Apple Corps grafted trees are loving their new rich organic soil. It will help ensure that our shrubs and trees thrive, providing food for people, pollinators, and wildlife alike. Our staff and volunteers enjoyed the beautiful weather on Tuesday working on the nursery at Lily Pond.

A shoutout to the Healthy Island Project for their continued collaboration, and to the Quimby Family Foundation for funding the Apple Corps Project.

"End-of-year giving is upon us! If you have already contributed, thank you— your generosity sustains our work. If you haven’t yet made a gift or can give again, your support before January 1 (of any amount) will help sustain our year-round stewardship and educational efforts. Every contribution truly makes a difference."
