OceansWide is excited to join Maine Blue Economy Week, alongside other leaders shaping the future of our shared ocean.

We’d love to connect at the Innovation Showcase & Blue Fair at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 3–6 p.m. It’s a great chance to explore new technologies, including 3D-printed electric boats (how cool is that?!), and meet our crew.

Hope to see you there!

This , we’d like to recognize the lobstermen on Vinalhaven who've joined our movement to help process and recycle recovered traps in the off-season.

Lobster is more than a livelihood – it’s part of Maine’s heritage. OceansWide Founder & President Buzz Scott grew up hauling traps on Matinicus, and today our crew is dedicated to protecting that way of life by keeping the seafloor healthy for generations to come.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Bean Maine Lobster Pound & Ice Wharf for our community demonstration series this August!

Using GIS technology, we always document what’s inside each trap – lobsters, sea stars, b**r cans, you name it. That seemed to be what folks were most excited to see.

Check out what we found!

Every Sunday this August, we’re opening up our work to the community!

At Bean Maine Lobster Pound & Ice Wharf, our crew will help you aboard, and you can see firsthand how we retrieve lost gear from the seafloor. Join us for either dive session: 9 - 11:30 a.m. or 1 - 3:30 p.m.

All are welcome. Hope to see you tomorrow (or next week)!

Got plans tonight? If not, spend part of your Friday evening with us at the Vinalhaven Grange aka Pleasant River Grange 492!

We’ll gather at 7 p.m. to discuss what we've learned about removing ghost gear Down East with one of our partners, the Penobscot Bay Waterkeeper. It’s free, and all are welcome!

If Sunday works better for you, head down to the Ice Wharf on Old Harbor Road at 9 a.m. We’ll be diving near the ferry terminal to show folks how we pull gear from the seafloor. It’s a neat process to see – especially for the kiddos.

Hope to see you this weekend!

Thank you to NEWS CENTER Maine for sharing how our work is making a difference! A cleaner seafloor means stronger fisheries. None of this would be possible without the support of Maine’s lobstermen.

To everyone who volunteered at this week's lobster bake or stopped by to say hi, thanks for making it such a great night!

With over 150 lobster rolls served, we hope no one left hungry.

If you missed this one, don't worry – we've got more events in the works. Stay tuned for details!
