Heartland CASA advocates for the best interest of abused and neglected children who are in the custody of the state of Illinois and under the protection of the Macon, DeWitt, Christian, and Moultrie County courts. Macon County CASA recruits, trains, and supports volunteers from the community who, as sworn officers of the court, advocate for abused and neglected children in the Macon & DeWitt County juvenile court systems.

HEARTLAND CASA IS ON THE MOVE — MAKING CONNECTIONS IN MOULTRIE COUNTY!

Our Heartland CASA crew has been having a great time getting to know Moultrie County, and now we’re taking the fun to Jet’s Diner in Sullivan for a special evening!

Jet’s is a Sullivan hometown favorite, and on Wednesday, October 21st, from 5:00–8:00 PM, they’re opening their doors after hours for a special evening with Heartland CASA and Moultrie County DOVE, Inc. If you haven’t experienced Jet’s yet, come give it a try!
Wherever you’re from, it’s just a short trip to Jet’s — come enjoy dinner, good food, fun and conversation, AND play some After Hours Trivia at your table for a chance to win fun prizes!
You’ll also get to meet and greet the Heartland CASA staff and some of our newest Moultrie County volunteers, including Becky Comstock, Moultrie County Domestic Violence Coordinator for Moultrie County DOVE, Inc. We are so excited about this evening and look forward to introducing more people to the work being done right here in Moultrie County to support children and families.
Heartland CASA serves children involved in the child welfare system in Macon, DeWitt, Christian and Moultrie Counties, providing trained volunteers who show up for children, listen to their voices and advocate for their best interests. As we continue growing our presence in Moultrie County, we’re getting ready for our next two CASA training classes. There are children in Moultrie County’s child welfare system who need someone willing to show up for them — someone who will listen, advocate and be a consistent person in their life.

IT STARTS WITH HEART. ❤️

You don't have to know everything about being a CASA Advocate before you become one. Sometimes the hardest part is understanding how a child and family even got to where they are. The circumstances can be complicated, and every child's story is different. That's where CASA training comes in.

The CASA Advocate training helps you understand the experiences, circumstances, and challenges that can bring a child and family to this point. That understanding helps you connect with the child you're advocating for and better understand how to advocate effectively for them. The important thing to remember is, if you've even considered becoming a CASA—you already have exactly what it takes to get started on the journey. You have the heart. Now, it's time to put that heart into action!

START YOUR WEEK WITH PURPOSE.

Sometimes purpose is simply choosing to use a little of your time to make a difference for someone else. For a child experiencing the uncertainty and chaos of foster care, a little time could mean having someone who cares, someone who listens, and someone who makes sure they are seen and heard. That’s what a CASA Advocate does—and it only requires 8–10 hours a month.

Our next CASA Advocate training class will be held October 19–November 23 at the Taylorville Public Library.

If you’re looking for a meaningful way to spend a little of your time and have a heart for children, this could be a place to put your purpose into action.

Heartland CASA is now enrolling for our next Volunteer Advocate Training class and we’d love to have you join us!

You don’t have to be a social worker, a lawyer, or have any professional background. You just need a heart for children and be willing to show up when they need it most.

Training meets just once a week for six consecutive weeks, and we're offering two convenient options to accommodate as many people as possible!

Today was another special Swear-In Day at Heartland CASA as Judge Phoebe Bowers administered the oath, officially welcoming four new CASA advocates to Macon County. Please help us welcome Collette P., Donna B., Jill B., and Rochelle M.!

Every Swear-In Day is a reminder that change doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when ordinary people are willing to step forward, speak up, and show up for a child who needs someone in their corner.

💙 What a wonderful way to celebrate Labor Day!

We are incredibly grateful to We Are One Community for awarding us a $1,000 grant today at the annual Labor Day Picnic at Fairview Park.

We Are One Community was created by local working families and unions who believe in giving back to the community they call home. We’re honored to be among the local organizations they chose to support this year.

This $1,000 will help Heartland CASA continue showing up for children who have experienced abuse and neglect, making sure their voices are heard and they have a caring, consistent advocate beside them.
