Race Day is today HKRS Springfield Families!
We are excited to kick off our Spring Series at Smedley Park!
Smedley Park is located at 20 Papermill Rd., Springfield, PA just off Baltimore Pike near the Blue Route/ I-476.
The field we are racing on is the field that is closest to Baltimore Pike. There are two parking lots, the first parking lot is on your left as you enter the park. The second is next to the Penn State Extension. Make a Left BEFORE you get to the Trolley tracks and follow the road up to the parking lot. There is a gravel road/ path to walk down to the field. If you cross over the trolley tracks you went too far.
We are thrilled to have you be a part of our healthy family, we hope that your family is as excited for the season to start as we are! To ensure the health and safety of our participants we will be implementing race day guidelines.
A few reminders for race day.....
1) We are encouraging all families to register online prior to arrival, if possible. If you did not attend bib & t-shirt pick up please arrive by 4:30 pm.
2) We do run in the rain, but if there is a safety concern we will be cancelling or postponing the race. If you signed up for the text alert feature within the registration process, you will receive a notification when we cancel. Please note that race cancellation decisions will be made by 1:30PM on race day - notification will be sent by email, Run Signup text alert and posted to the HKRS Springfield, PA page.
3) Please ensure that your children come with their race numbers pinned on the front of their shirt if you are pinning them at home. Be sure that the bottom of their race bib is complete with their name, age, grade, race and gender. This is very important for accurate race results. Please do not tear this off. We will tear it off when your child crosses the finish line at the completion of their race. We will have EXTRA pins on-site. If you happen to forget your race bib or pins please come to the registration table, race numbers are not assigned to runners.
4) As much as we love our four-legged furry friends and as well behaved as they may be, some of the children are afraid and we ask that you not bring them with you on race day. Thank you!
5) Results link will be sent out after the races are over. Medals go to all finishers after Week #5 and is based on a points system that can be found here.
6) We kindly ask that you review our Code of Conduct with your children, family members, friends and other spectators you will bring with you prior to arrival. We want the event to be FUN and SAFE for all! We will read the Code of Conduct with the children and all spectators at each of the starting lines as well. We do ask that parents and guardians cheer all of our runners on throughout the race. We do want this to be a positive and encouraging atmosphere for our participants. Running alongside the participants will not be permitted or tolerated.
