On May 20, 2026, The Northeast Early Childhood Council was proud to celebrate seven parents and community members who recently completed the 14-week UCONN People Empowering People (PEP) Parent Leadership Training Program.

Throughout the program, participants developed leadership, communication, advocacy, and community engagement skills while building confidence and connections with one another.

As their community leadership project, the class created Kindness Korner in the Quiet Corner, an initiative promoting neurodiversity awareness and inclusion. Together, they built sensory boards, shared resources with families at the Putnam Fairy & Magic Festival, and donated the sensory boards to TEEG for continued community use.

Thank you to our graduates, partners, supporters, and funders who helped make this program possible. We are excited to see the positive impact these new parent leaders will continue to make throughout Northeast Connecticut!

💙 Congratulations, Class of 2026!

A huge thank you to all of the families who joined us for our Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Workshop on June 10th! We had such meaningful conversations about supporting children's emotional well-being, building resilience, navigating big feelings, and helping our kids develop the social-emotional skills they need to thrive.

We hope everyone left feeling empowered, supported, and excited to explore the SEL kits and resources provided.

Special thanks to our amazing community partners who helped make this event possible:

🏫 Sterling Community School for generously providing the space for our workshop and offering on-site childcare so families could fully participate.

🍽️ Golden Greek Restaurant & Pub for providing a delicious dinner for our attendees.

And thank you to every parent, caregiver, and family member who took time out of their busy schedules to invest in their children's social-emotional growth. Your participation and willingness to share your experiences made for thoughtful discussions and a wonderful evening.
