It's Mystery Monday!

Week #3: This week we have a house. I think it should be local as it is in an album that has some pics that are of Dayton. Does anyone recognize it?

Busy week...haven't taken time to post some of our progress with landscaping. Several of us worked multiple days last week and eliminated a bunch of weeds, spread mulch and sowed grass.

Thanks to Danny Smith, Patty's hubby, for bringing his skid-steer up and making short work of some rocky dirt piles that have been there forever. Looks so much better! Now to wait for grass to grow.

Plus, we got a pile of dirt to fill in some areas from neighbors Steffy and Traxler--thank you!

Still so much to do, but the improvement thus far makes us happy.

The work is never done....not only do we keep up with the events and the inside of the House--but the outside needs attention too.

We have been slowly tackling weeds and trying to spruce up the yard/garden to make it more attractive...while making it easier to maintain. Last year we planted some perennials and ferns from our own gardens that are starting to fill in. The "herb" garden is quite messy. The gravel--that was a path--needs cleaned out, and we hope to add some good dirt so things grow better.

Hoping to get grass growing in the bare spots and/or mulch. Lots of mulch to spread and many more weeds to conquer.

We have been working outside on Wednesdays when we are open and don't have visitors. And we try to get up there other times when we can. It all is a bit overwhelming currently.

If anyone is interested in assisting with this, we would love and greatly APPRECIATE the help!

It's Mystery Monday!

Week #2: This portrait also hangs in the parlor along with portraits of two women and the gentleman featured last week. We found a little more info since sharing last week's photo--all four portraits were given by the same person (Jean Enterline). Her son said they were found in the attic when the Enterlines purchased the house. A Williamson family lived there prior. Does this help anyone connect any dots?
I included the ladies' photos in the comments.

If so, comment below your thoughts.

Why am I so bad about remembering to take pictures at our events? Probably because I am busy talking with visitors. 😁
We had quite a few visitors this morning before and after the parade/service. And quite a few names were added to our "Honor and Remember " board. If you didn't make it today to add a service member's name, it will be up all year... be sure to stop by and do that.
Here are a couple pics of the event from our porch. And also of a special attendee at the service...100-year-old WWII Veteran Daniel Bish! Wow, amazing. Thank you for your service Daniel! 🇺🇸
Never forget the cost that was paid for your freedom!

Welcome to Mystery Monday! (If you don't know what we are talking about, check out our post from last evening.)

Here we go with our first photo...this portrait hangs in our parlor. When I asked who it was, no one knew. How about you? Comment below if you have a clue for us!

We’re starting something new!

The Marshall House is home to many old photographs whose stories have faded — unknown faces, forgotten places, moments waiting to be rediscovered. So we’re turning to you for help.

Every Monday, we’ll post a mystery photo and ask for your detective skills. Recognize a face? A porch? A hillside? Or even a family resemblance — “Hey, that looks like Uncle Joe!”

Your clues could help us reconnect these images with their stories. Let’s solve some history together.

Stay tuned tomorrow for the first edition of Mystery Monday.

A couple more throwback items...these DHS basketball programs are up for grabs. The 1999-2000 edition is the last year DHS was open and features the school history on the front.
I was the Booster president then and these have been in my basement ever since. 😬🙄🤫😮
Who needs one? Free...though donations are never refused.
