There is something new and red at the RVFD, but it's not a truck?? Yesterday was the day to have our new roofing installed and it turned out amazing!!!

A few of the recent wind storms damaged our aging shingled roofing. The members agreed it was time to redo them and we decide to use metal this time instead. Who did we choose to accomplish this project you ask?? Well our very supportive Amish community is always asking us for ways they can help our department, so we knew exactly who to contact for a project such as this!! They were very grateful for the opportunity and man did they knock it out of the park!!!

The Rural Valley Fire Department would like to give a huge shout out to brothers Noah, Alvin, and Samuel Miller for their time, expertise, and generosity!!! This upgrade will not only protect our station but insure a safe place for our community to go in a time of need for years to come!! Thank you very much fellas!! We greatly appreciate everything!!

We also want to give a big shout out to Carson/Boyer Funeral Home and Monuments for letting us store all the materials in their parking lot this week and providing their forklift to assist with putting the metal on the roof!! Thank you very much!! We greatly appreciate everything!!

Last but definitely not least, the RVFD would like to recognize RVFD Asst. Chief #3 Kelly Lockhart and RVFD Firefighter Jason Schrecengost for spearheading this project from the beginning to the very end!! Also, a huge thank you to RVFD Firefighters JR Barnett, Joe Johnson, Donnie McLachlan, Jamie Stewart, Auxiliary President Tanya Bish, and Auxiliary member Kenzy Bish for providing the excellent ground support to help make sure the project got done in a timely manner and that everyone kept hydrated!! Thank you everyone for a job well done!!! Please enjoy the pictures if you can't see it in person, but they don't do it justice!!

Thank you to everyone who supports our fire department everyday!! We wouldn't be here without you!!! We greatly appreciate each and every one of you!!! Remember the greatest thing you could ever donate is your time!! Please consider reaching out today and being something bigger than yourself!! We can promise the Pros definitely out weigh the Cons!!!

Last night members of the Rural Valley Fire Department participated in our monthly drill which focused on driver training. A driving course which mirrors the actual course for operating certification was setup and members sharpened their driving skills at different configured stations. Engine 210-1, Rescue 210, and Tanker 210 were the trucks that members focused their attention on to navigate this challenging course. This drill also gives an opportunity for our veteran drivers to mentor our newer drivers on all the proper techniques needed to operate these emergency apparatus. Thank you to our 2nd Assistant Chief Dan Bish for coordinating and facilitating this month's drill. Also we want to give a shout out to the Armstrong County DPS / 911 for the use of the county traffic control trailer which provided the cones to setup all the different course stations.

Remember to always stay a least 500 feet back for any emergency apparatus while driving down the highway and if you see an emergency vehicle approaching with lights flashing and sirens on, please safely pull over and stop so they can safely get around you. If you are approaching a emergency scene please give your full attention, slow down to a safe speed, and obey those individuals directing traffic!!

The best donation that you can ever give is your time!! Please consider becoming a member today!! We are actively seeking new members and would be happy to hear from you!!

As always thank you to our awesome community and amazing supporters who make all this possible!! We wouldn't be here without you!! We strive to give you the best service we can and will always answer the call!! Thank you everyone!!
