Yesterday, as many of us were processing the weight of everything happening in the world, the Grindey family quietly spent the day remembering and celebrating a life that meant everything to them.

Army Staff Sergeant Jesse J. Grindey was born on March 3, 1982, in Cuba City, Wisconsin. Yesterday marked what would have been his birthday. A day that for his loved ones is both filled with memories and the enduring love they carry for him.

Staff Sgt. Grindey gave his life while serving our country in Afghanistan on March 12, 2012. He was just 30 years old and serving as a military policeman with the 287th Military Police Company.

While the world may have been focused on the events unfolding around us, yesterday the Grindey family celebrated Jesseโ€™s Heavenly Birthday โ€” remembering the son, husband, father, and friend whose legacy continues to live on through those who love him.

Please take a moment today to send a little extra love and prayer to the Grindey family.

Happy Heavenly Birthday, Jesse.

Tonight, we pause as a nation to honor four American heroes whose lives were taken in the recent attack in Kuwait.

These soldiers answered the call to serve something greater than themselves. They wore the uniform of the United States with pride, knowing the weight of that commitment and the sacrifices it sometimes demands.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Captain Cody A. Khork, 35 โ€“ Winter Haven, Florida

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42 โ€“ Bellevue, Nebraska

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39 โ€“ White Bear Lake, Minnesota

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Sgt. Declan J. Coady, 20 โ€“ West Des Moines, Iowa

Behind each of these names is a family whose world has been forever changed. Tonight, we ask our community to keep their loved ones, their fellow soldiers, and all Gold Star families in your thoughts and prayers.

Freedom is never free. It is carried on the shoulders of men and women like these who step forward so the rest of us may live in peace.

We will say their names.
We will honor their sacrifice.
And we will never forget.

Fly high, heroes. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Recent events in Iran and across the Middle East may be stirring up difficult emotions for many in our community. News of conflict can reopen tender places, bringing waves of grief, anxiety, anger, or memories you thought had settled. If youโ€™re feeling heavier than usual, please know that what youโ€™re experiencing is valid.

Today, we pause to mourn the loss of three U.S. service members killed during operations in the Middle East. We hold their families gently in our hearts as they begin a journey no one ever chooses.

At SEAL Family Legacy, we understand that headlines like these can feel personal, especially for Gold Star Families and all who carry the weight of military loss. If you find yourself overwhelmed, tearful, on edge, or simply quiet in a way you canโ€™t quite explain, you are not alone.

We are here.
For the families whose lives changed today.
For those whose loss still feels like yesterday.
For anyone who needs a reminder that their grief is seen and honored.

Please reach out if you need connection or support. Our community exists to walk alongside you: with compassion, understanding, and steady care.

We are holding you close, always.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ’› Happy Heavenly Birthday, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Jonathan โ€œJonโ€ Gibson ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Jon Gibson. A devoted Navy pilot, a leader, a mentor, a husband, and a father who continues to be deeply loved and remembered.

Jon served his country with pride and honor, dedicating his life to protecting others and living out the values of service, commitment, and sacrifice. He was known for his contagious laugh, his competitive spirit, and the way he could light up a room just by walking into it. But above all else, Jon was a family man โ€” a loving husband to Chrissy and an incredible father to Xander and Makaylin.

Those who knew Jon speak of his heart for his family, his love of flying, sports, and time spent with friends, and the way he made everyone around him feel valued and supported.

Today, we hold Chrissy, Xander, Makaylin, and all who love Jon close in our hearts as we honor his birthday and celebrate the incredible life he lived.

At SEAL Family Legacy, we are honored to help carry forward Jonโ€™s legacy by supporting his family and ensuring his story is never forgotten.

Happy Birthday, Jon.
Forever Loved.
Forever Honored.
Never Forgotten. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Restoring Purpose Through Adventure: Spotlight on the Special Operations Adventure Foundation (SOAF) โš”๏ธโ›ฐ๏ธ

At SEAL Family Legacy, our heart is with the families of our fallen. But we also know that the "Living Legacy" of our community rests in the hands of the operators still with usโ€”those navigating the complex transition from elite service back to civilian life.

Today, we want to spotlight an organization that is on a mission to make a profound impact on that journey: Special Operations Adventure Foundation (SOAF).

The Mission Founded by veterans who lived the challenge themselves, SOAF addresses a critical gap. For a Special Operator, the "mission" provides identity, structure, and a brotherhood that is hard to replicate. Without it, many face Operator Syndromeโ€”a combination of isolation, physical wear, and a loss of purpose.

SOAFโ€™s solution? Adventure. They provide immersive, high-octane retreats that:

Reconnect Teammates: Reuniting operators with the only people who truly "get it."

Restore Confidence: Using outdoor challenges to prove that their greatest missions aren't behind them.

Reignite Purpose: Helping veterans find new ways to lead and thrive in their communities.

Leadership with a Legacy ๐Ÿค The drive behind SOAF is personal. Their leadership consists of long-time friends and supporters of SFL:

Jason Borges (Founder): A retired Green Beret with 25 years of service who saw firsthand the need for a space where warriors could heal through shared experience.

Angel Molina (President): A former Navy SEAL with 35 years of service, dedicated to mentoring the next generation and ensuring no operator is left alone in the "after-action" of life.

Stronger Together, we are proud to stand with Jason and Angel. When our community stays connected, our families stay strong. Please join us in supporting SOAF as they lead our warriors on their next great adventure.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ In Loving Memory of Chief Petty Officer William โ€œRyanโ€ Owens ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Today we pause to honor and remember Senior Chief Petty Officer William โ€œRyanโ€ Owens โ€” a devoted Navy SEAL, courageous leader, loving husband, and proud father whose legacy of service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Ryan enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1998 and began his career as a cryptologic technician before answering a greater calling. In 2002, he completed Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training in Coronado, California, earning the Trident and beginning a distinguished career in Naval Special Warfare. Over the next decade and a half, Ryan served on multiple SEAL teams on both the West and East Coasts, rising to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer and becoming a respected leader among his teammates.

On January 29, 2017, Ryan made the ultimate sacrifice during a raid against al-Qaida forces while serving in U.S. Central Command operations. He gave his life in defense of our nation โ€” a hero in every sense of the word.

Throughout his career, Ryan was recognized with numerous awards for valor and service, including two Bronze Stars with Combat โ€œV,โ€ the Navy/Marine Corps Medal, multiple commendation medals with combat distinction, and the Combat Action Ribbon โ€” honors that reflect a lifetime of courage, commitment, and excellence.
But beyond the uniform, Ryan was a devoted husband to Carryn and a loving father to their three children. Today, our hearts are especially with his family โ€” whose strength and grace carry forward the legacy of a man who gave everything for others.
At SEAL Family Legacy, we stand in remembrance of Ryan and in support of all Gold Star Families who bear the weight of such profound sacrifice.

Never Forgotten.
Forever Honored.
Always Remembered. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

๐ŸŽญ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ’› Legacy Buddies Grant Awarded โ€” Celebrating Alston Arrechaga! ๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽญ

Weโ€™re proud to announce that Alston Arrechaga has been awarded a Legacy Buddies Grant through SEAL Family Legacy to help support his senior year performing arts competitions โ€” including choir, orchestra, theater, and chorale!

Alstonโ€™s talent, creativity, and passion for the arts shine in everything he does. His senior year is filled with exciting opportunities to perform, compete, and grow โ€” and with that comes travel, fees, and program expenses. This grant helps ease those costs so Alston can focus on doing what he loves most: creating, performing, and sharing his gift with the world.

At SEAL Family Legacy, the Legacy Buddies Program exists to enrich the lives of Gold Star children by supporting opportunities that help them thrive โ€” in academics, athletics, and the arts. Supporting Alstonโ€™s journey is exactly what this mission is all about.

Alston, we canโ€™t wait to see you take the stage and shine this year. Your fatherโ€™s legacy lives on through your passion, your heart, and your courage. ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’›

๐ŸŽต๐Ÿ’› Legacy Buddies Grant Awarded โ€” Celebrating Kade! ๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŽต

Weโ€™re so excited to share that Kade has been awarded a Legacy Buddies Grant through SEAL Family Legacy!

This grant will help support Kadeโ€™s music lessons, giving him the opportunity to explore his creativity, grow his talent, and pursue something that brings him joy. Whether itโ€™s learning new skills, finding confidence, or simply expressing himself through music โ€” we believe every Gold Star child deserves the chance to chase their passions.

At SEAL Family Legacy, the Legacy Buddies Program exists to enrich the lives of Gold Star children by supporting opportunities that help them thrive. Supporting Kade on this journey is exactly what this program is all about.

Kade, weโ€™re so proud of you and canโ€™t wait to see (and hear!) all that you accomplish. Keep playing, keep learning, and keep shining. ๐ŸŽถโœจ

๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ’› Legacy Buddies Grant Awarded โ€” Celebrating Christopher Hercules! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿˆ

Weโ€™re proud to announce that Christopher Hercules has been awarded a Legacy Buddies Grant through SEAL Family Legacy to support his journey to football recruiting camps as he heads into his senior year of high school!

Christopher has been invited to multiple camps in Alabama and Indiana โ€” key opportunities to get ranked, seen by college recruiters, and chase his dream of playing college football. With camp fees and travel costs adding up quickly, this grant helps ease the financial burden so he can stay focused on the field and the future ahead.

Christopherโ€™s drive and heart are evident in everything he does โ€” and thereโ€™s a special meaning behind the jersey he wears. He proudly wears number 5 โ€” his fatherโ€™s lucky number โ€” carrying his dadโ€™s legacy with him every time he steps onto the field. ๐Ÿ’›

Today we also honor the legacy of SPC Russell Shane Hercules Jr., Christopherโ€™s father, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our nation in Afghanistan. His courage, love for family, and devotion to service live on through his children โ€” especially in moments like this, where dreams continue forward because of the strength he passed down.

Christopher, weโ€™re cheering you on every step of the way. Keep pushing, keep believing, and keep honoring that legacy. ๐Ÿˆโœจ

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’› Legacy Buddies Grant Awarded โ€” Celebrating Isabelle Frank! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ“š

We are so happy to share that Isabelle โ€œIzzyโ€ Frank has been awarded a Legacy Buddies Grant from SEAL Family Legacy to help support her junior year tutoring expenses. As she prepares for college, Izzy has been working hard (including weekly Calculus tutoring and upcoming SAT prep) and weโ€™re proud to stand beside her during this important academic season!

At SEAL Family Legacy, the Legacy Buddies Program exists to support Gold Star children with opportunities that help enrich their lives and ease financial burdens โ€” and Izzyโ€™s dedication to her studies is exactly the kind of dream we love to support.

๐Ÿ’› As we celebrate Izzy, we also take a moment to honor her father, Marine Captain Warren A. Frank. Capt. Frank was a courageous leader in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving with distinction and deeply caring for both his Marines and his family. On November 25, 2008, during Operation Iraqi Freedom, he was killed while conducting a food distribution mission โ€” giving his life in service to others. His legacy of leadership, love, and devotion continues to inspire all who knew him and those who learn his story.

Today, we celebrate Izzyโ€™s hard work, her bright future, and the legacy of service that inspires her every day. Please join us in cheering her on as she continues her academic journey! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ“–โœ๏ธ
