What we do with our time, resources, and opportunities says a lot about the kind of community we want to build.

At United Way of Danville-Pittsylvania County, action means showing up, supporting local work, and helping create opportunities that move people forward.

Impact starts with what we choose to do.

Halloween is a time for treats and traditions, but for families already struggling to afford everyday essentials, even small holiday expenses can add up.

According to United For ALICE, 49% of Virginia children live in households experiencing poverty or financial hardship.

A little kindness can help make Halloween sweeter for everyone! We're sharing simple ways to make a difference this season.

A donation can do more than fund a program

It can help give local organizations the stability they need to keep showing up, planning ahead, and serving the people who depend on them.

Supporting nonprofits also means supporting the people and infrastructure behind the work.

October 8th marked DAF Day, a national day dedicated to raising awareness about donor-advised funds and the impact they can have on charitable giving.

But the opportunity to give doesn't end there! A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) allows individuals to set aside money for charitable giving and recommend grants to nonprofits over time.

Already have a DAF? Consider recommending a grant to United Way of Danville-Pittsylvania County to support local literacy and economic resiliency initiatives.

Your generosity can make a difference right here in our community 💙

United Way of Danville-Pittsylvania County is saddened by the passing of former President and CEO Philip Andrew Haley.

A Danville native, Philip returned to his hometown in 2013, where he served as President and CEO of United Way. His commitment to leadership, service, and building meaningful connections was reflected throughout his career and his involvement in the community.

We are grateful for his contributions to our organization and the community he called home.

Our deepest sympathies are with his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.

Now, we're putting those programs on the map!

No one person has to carry the whole load 💙

When people give their time, resources, ideas, or support, those individual efforts come together to create real change across our community.

That’s the heart of UWDPC: everyone has something to contribute, and every contribution matters.

On this day in 1887, the movement that would become United Way Worldwide began with a shared commitment to meeting local needs.

That mission has since grown into a global movement built on collaboration, generosity, and collective action.

Here in Danville and Pittsylvania County, our own United Way story began on May 22, 1922, as the Community Chest of Danville, Virginia. We're proud to be part of this larger legacy while continuing to make a difference right here at home.
