Our Kingdom Justice Dinners are meant to be tables of about 8 people who live near one another but may not know each other because they attend different churches. With some last minute cancellations, come the day of the dinner, a first time host, Joselyn and her husband Roberto had food for 8 and only one guest coming. We tried to find others to attend, but on short notice, their table ended up with just 3. Our team was feeling down and wondering how their experience would be, praying God would be at work regardless. And of course He was!

Joselyn shared "It was a great evening, good conversation and nice meeting a brother in Christ who doesn’t live far from us! I'm glad we said yes." And Brian reached out to say, "Thank you for facilitating the KJS meet-ups over dinner. I had a GREAT time getting to know Roberto and Joselyn."

Their dinner also led to a connection for some timely music lessons for an instrument Brian was needing to learn for his band. So sweet!

God is bringing people together with purpose at our Community Leader Gatherings. In April around one of our gathered tables, Brenda, the Director at Babies and Beyond, met Jay, a counselor at Living Well Counseling. Brenda often works with women who could benefit from working with a counselor. In Jay, she now had a believer she trusts that she could refer her clients to.

Today we're thinking back on how connective the three community dinners were in April. These neighborhood-based gatherings around tables allow for people to build trusting relationships with other people in their proximate community and hear more about community work that they might join in on. One attendee shared:

"I was very encouraged by all the people I got to meet both at my table and nearby to where I was sitting. Hearing their passions about the community was incredibly encouraging. I was also greatly encouraged hearing about Extended Hands Pantry and learning the ways they really strive to provide culturally appropriate options for their community."

Another said what they appreciated the most was "the table talk--getting to connect and know other folks. I'm an introvert and so the formal program would generally be more appealing to me, but I'm very aware that it was the table conversations that I needed most."

Laissez les bons temps rouler — let the good times roll!

Join us Friday, August 7 at San Damiano Park in Monona for a summer concert. We are excited to partner with the SL Brown Foundation for this FREE night of summer fun: live, danceable music, food and drinks for purchase from local food trucks or the opportunity to bring your own picnic, yard games and more!

The Cajun Strangers are a Madison institution since 2001, playing traditional Cajun and Zydeco music featuring accordion, fiddle, and vocals in Cajun French.
