Kesem at University of Wisconsin-Madison A child's friend through and beyond a parent's cancer. Our chapter is operated by 100 student volunteers and serves 200 campers ages 6-18 per year.

Kesem is a diverse community led by passionate and empathetic college students working to ensure that children facing the challenges of a parent’s cancer have space, connection, and support to rediscover the joys of childhood. Our mission is to support children through and beyond their parent’s cancer with free, fun-filled creative programs and a lasting community. Kesem at the University of Wisconsin - Madison was founded in 2010 and supports children in the Wisconsin by providing Camp Kesem, three different free week-long summer camp experiences, and year-round Through and Beyond support services. Kesem operates at more than 130 chapters coast-to-coast. Its programs and services are all funded by generous donations from individuals, foundations, and corporate partners. Kesem is a federally registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.

Kitty, Waffle, and Care Bear will be helping our chapter by managing the social media accounts, creating student and community newsletters, keeping in contact with our Alumni and stewarding our seniors in the spring! We’re so excited to see them spread the Kesem magic this year!

Meet your 2026-27 Kesem at UW-Madison Outreach coordinators: LaLa, Iris and Bari 💙

LaLa, Iris and Bari will be working throughout the year to communicate with caregivers, as well as spread Kesem’s message and bring more campers to our chapter! They will be sending updates about camp dates, and keeping track of all of the camper applications we receive! We are looking forward to seeing all of the ways they will spread Kesem magic this year!
