Stevens Creek Striders

Stevens Creek Striders Stevens Creek Striders is a social trail-running club. We welcome all who are interested to join us on the trails!

We meet every Saturday at 8:30am at the Stevens Creek County Park reservoir parking lot (maps.app.goo.gl/LK2z7qvRoTq86Ao18) (Cupertino, CA). The Stevens Creek Striders are an all-ages social trail running group in Cupertino, CA. Every Saturday morning at 8:30, you will find us at the Stevens Creek Reservoir parking lot, eager to spend the morning sharing the trails and each other’s company, often

followed by brunch nearby. Beyond our Saturday gatherings, we organize runs in other parks throughout the year, manage aid stations at several prominent races, and host our own race in September. Runners (and hikers) of all backgrounds and abilities are welcome, whether you are new to trails or eyeing your next 100-miler. Please do not worry if you think you’re slow – we will naturally spread out during the run but also regroup regularly. No one is left behind, and no one will mind having more time to chat; we are here because we want to spend this time together. The club started running in 1981, near our current location, and we’ve been meeting at the Reservoir since the 90’s. Since 1982, the club has managed the Last Chance Aid Station at Western States, where we are the longest-serving club. In the mid-80’s, Hobee’s Restaurant on Stevens Creek Blvd opened. The Striders were some of its first and most loyal patrons, and – until the restaurant’s closing in 2020 – there was always reserved seating for our Saturday morning brunch, where club photos adorned the walls. Now, our Saturday brunches are at Holder’s, and we hope to dine there for many more years. The club’s focus is on community over direct competition, but that nurturing community does often lead its members to achieve the incredible. In 1995, Strider Mark Williams was the first person to complete the Barkley Marathons. In 2023, Mandie Holmes represented the United States at the 24-Hour World Championships. Out on the trails, enthusiasm is contagious, friends help each other, and runners end up excelling in races that they might never have thought possible. The Striders are a sister club to Quicksilver Running Club, with some overlapping memberships, and we also help each other out at various events.

Great run today: a couple new runners and Adam's last run with the club before he heads off to Colorado - you'll be missed!
We ventured a bit from the beaten path to the bushy path, for some cool views and fun descents.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Join us every Saturday, 8:30am, for a fun run in the trails above Cupertino!

We have groups run distances of ~6 miles and ~9 miles to accommodate runners of all abilities. Our Saturday runs are at party pace with no runner left behind (we always wait at tricky intersections, water stops, cool landmarks).

That doesn’t mean that we’re not serious runners. We have members who have run (and finished) WSER, Barkley Marathons, Cocodona 125/250, as well as incredible Masters athletes and members of Team USA. But for others this is their one run of the week.

Come hang out with us to socialize and see some trails and get plugged into an amazing trail and ultramarathon community! We hope to see you soon!

We have a lot of folks at Quicksilver Bull Run aid station today, and we also have our usual Saturday morning run, on a good sunny day. All the best to everyone running races, running with a group, running for themselves. Have a great weekend!

Cool, drizzling, overcast but still a great day for a run. Welcome Khartik.

We had a fun Predictive Run this morning - everyone predicts their time to finish a particular route, runs that route (more or less, since map interpretations vary), and the winner is the runner with the smallest delta. This year, Timmy nabbed our last bottle of R&W with 0:26 off his estimate.

After running, we enjoyed a potluck in the shade in Villa Maria, and there were lots of good plates to choose from.

It's a fun tradition, and it's been around since before I joined the club. Some folks end up on trails that they've never run before, too, because we start at a little bit of a different spot than our usual runs.

Wherever you're running, happy trails!
