1) Arts and Culture - Arts and cultural exchanges are the oldest and most robust for our sister city network that take many different forms such as musical performances, art exhibits, parks or gardens, and international cultural festivals. By experiencing and exploring the culture of an Indian community, citizens may gain insight into the history, values, and aesthetic sensibilities of their partners.
2) Youth and Education - Providing experience in international affairs and STEAM education exchange programs to youth is a critical part of any sister city program. Activities include student exchanges, virtual technology exchanges, and game day tournaments. These exchanges are often described by participants as “a life-changing experience,” and many current leaders in international affairs or diplomacy can trace their interest to their sister city exchange.
3) Business and Trade- These connections build trust, access, and expertise that help local businesses find new opportunities and resources. Whether it is access to new markets, assistance navigating import and export regulations, or introductions to new partners, sister city programs expand the resources available to local businesses.
4) Community Development - Peer-learning between the two cities employees and elected officials through sister city activities can help cities implement innovative policies and management techniques in varied fields. Programs raise funds or collect supplies for natural disasters and STEAM school support. CBSCI TIMELINE

CBSCI along with Odia Community in Bay Area mourns the untimely passing of a towering legend of the Odia cinema and music industry. Fondly revered as the Melody King of Odisha, Abhijit Majumdar’s soulful journey came to a sorrowful close on Sunday morning at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. He was only 54.
With a musical career that defined generations, Abhijit Majumdar reshaped the soundscape of Odia cinema through his timeless compositions. His melodies carried emotion, culture, and storytelling in a way few could achieve, earning him a permanent place in the hearts of music lovers across Odisha and beyond. His work was not just music—it was memory, identity, and emotion woven into song.
Beyond his extraordinary talent, he will be remembered as a humble artist, a passionate creator, and a guiding light for aspiring musicians. His absence leaves a void that words cannot fully express, and his passing truly marks the end of an era in the Odia music industry.
He leaves behind his grieving wife and son, to whom we extend our deepest condolences. In this moment of profound loss, CBSCI stands in solidarity with his family, friends, colleagues, and countless admirers who are mourning this irreplaceable loss. Our Radio Show Utkala Express was fortunate to interview him with the support of our radio co-host Swayam Padhi, one of the top singers of Odisha who was groomed by the legendary music director.
Though he may no longer be with us in person, his melodies will continue to live on—echoing through time, inspiring generations yet to come.
May his soul rest in eternal peace. ❤️🙏🏼
