The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation was pleased to participate in the Pennsylvania State Weekend program at the National Fire Academy this past weekend by offering its Leadership, Accountability, Culture and Knowledge class along with its The First Five Minutes for First Due class. The Pennsylvania Weekend set an NFA record by having more than 350 participants from fire and EMS agencies around the Commonwealth in attendance.

🌲🚒 Wildland Deployment Update 🚒🌲

Our Shoreline Fire Department personnel continue to answer the call, supporting wildfire operations both here in Washington and beyond.

Currently, we have three wildland teams deployed:

📡 Communications Team: Two members are deployed in Eastern Washington, setting up and managing communications for multiple wildfire incidents.

🔥 Brush 165 Crew: Three firefighters are deployed to Central Oregon, assisting with wildfire suppression efforts.

📣 Public Information Officer: Our PIO is also deployed to Central Oregon, supporting incident communications and keeping communities informed during ongoing wildfire operations.

We are proud of our personnel for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to protecting our state and our neighboring communities. Please join us in wishing them a safe deployment and safe return home.

Recovery starts the moment the call ends.

Firefighters can lose up to 1.5 liters of fluid during intense activity. Heavy PPE, extreme heat, and strenuous physical exertion place enormous stress on the body, increasing the risk of heat stress, dehydration, and cardiac complications.

Recovery isn’t optional—it’s an essential part of staying healthy, resilient, and ready for the next call.
