Officer Goldsmith & K9 Brutus

Handlers and their K9 partners continue to make a difference and bring the lost home!! Great job team Brutus!

On 11/1/26 Houston County Sheriff deputies were called in reference to a 56 year old mental health patient that had left their residence. Deputies were advised that the subject had several acute mental health diagnoses. After further investigation and due to the health issues and age of the subject, deputies on scene called for a tracking K9. Officer Goldsmith and K9 Brutus responded to the call, approximately 2-1/2 hours after the subject had left on foot.

The residence and other structures and property were thoroughly searched before a scent article, a rain jacket worn by the subject, was located. K9 Brutus was acclimated around the area to discriminate all other odors and possible areas the subject could have been first. K9 Brutus was harnessed and presented with the article in the driveway of the subject's home. K9 Brutus was instructed to “Find Em” and began tracking north. K9 Brutus continued tracking towards an intersection where he began giving head looks to the right of the intersection. The subject that was described walked into the intersection towards the team. Brutus's ears perked up and he got happy tail, indicating that he’s located or is close to the subject. The subject was fully identified and was able to get the proper help and attention needed, then safely returned home.

Brutus was rewarded with high praise and treats.
Good boy, Brutus! 💙

Obion County Sheriff’s Office, TN
Sgt. Wright & K9 Sophia

Deputy K9 Sophia was requested by the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office to assist with a Silver Alert involving a missing endangered adult.

The victim had driven his vehicle into a very secluded, wooded area where the vehicle became inoperable. He then left the vehicle on foot and continued through the woods. A trail camera captured a photograph of him a considerable distance away from the vehicle, giving search teams an additional location to work from.

Upon Sophia’s arrival, a scent article was obtained from the victim’s vehicle. Conditions were extremely difficult, with temperatures and heat indexes exceeding 100 degrees.

Sophia was relocated to the area where the trail camera was located. After being presented with the scent article, she immediately began working the track down a dirt path.

There were some conflicting details regarding the victim’s direction of travel, but Sophia was confident in the path she selected. The track was more than 24 hours old and heavily contaminated, adding another layer of difficulty.

At one point, we made a wrong turn into heavy woods, after continuing a considerable distance through the woods, Sophia began showing signs that the heat was taking its toll. She was brought back to her vehicle, cooled down, and given water.

After a brief rest, she appeared recovered enough to try again. We started from the scent article once more, and Sophia chose the same path. When she reached the point where she had previously turned, she continued straight ahead.

The track eventually led us into an open area where a large deer blind was located. Sophia showed a significant amount of interest around the blind, so spotters were asked to check inside and around the area.

Sophia was once again showing signs of heat exhaustion, and the decision was made to stop the track. She was moved to a shaded area, given water, and allowed to recover before being returned to her vehicle to cool down.

Later, I was notified that the victim had been located approximately 30 yards from the deer blind.

Sophia worked until she had completely exhausted herself. She stayed committed to that track through extreme heat, an older and heavily contaminated scent trail, difficult terrain, and a complicated search environment. I’m incredibly proud of her.

Cpl. Steve Dean & K9 Lincoln

Great job team !

We got called out last night for an 81 year old female with dementia. The caretaker went to the bathroom and when she came back she noticed that the front door had been left open and that she was gone. Her and several family members began looking for the female prior to calling law enforcement so by the time we arrived out there it was about an hour and a half after she left. I went inside the home and recovered a small throw blanket that was on her bed and placed in near the front door. I scented Lincoln off the blanket and he took a trail that led us across the street into a grown up area next to the wood line. Lincoln then turned into the wood line, which was only probably about 20 foot wide, and went into an open field. Lincoln turned left and tracked down the wood line about 150-200 yards and located the female about 20 yards into the wood line. It was very hot and by this point she was not able to stand and walk out by herself.

K-9 Hoover Retires 🐾

We celebrate one of our very special Find-M’ Friends graduates, K-9 Hoover, as he begins a well-deserved retirement. 💙

After 4½ years of dedicated service with Bedford County and countless missions, Hoover is medically retiring from duty. From the time he came to Find-M’ Friends as a young bloodhound to the incredible K-9 he became, we have been so proud to watch his journey unfold.

Hoover’s determination, incredible nose, and unwavering dedication made him an exceptional tracking partner for Sgt. Hall. Together, they have spent years serving their community, helping families, and putting Hoover’s amazing abilities to work when they were needed most.

A huge thank you to Sgt. Hall and the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office for giving Hoover such a wonderful home, partnership, and career. We are grateful for the care, dedication, and countless hours they have invested in him.

Hoover, you have made us proud every step of the way. Your working days may be over, but your legacy will always be a part of the Find-M’ Friends family.

Happy retirement, Hoover! You’ve earned it, buddy. 🐾❤️

This was supposed to be a test for BOTH hound and handler. A “double-blind” trail, meaning neither the hound, handler, nor anyone following behind knew exactly where the trail would lead.

But Jolene? She already knew exactly where her person was! 😂🐾

This is a fun little exercise we use to keep both our handlers and hounds on their toes and always thinking during training. Jolene was definitely ready for the challenge! ❤️
