With the ACLU of Mississippi, the SPLC is helping three individuals sue to challenge the law that limits free speech and makes it harder for people to ask for help when they need it, which puts their survival at risk.

Section 504 protections are at risk in Texas v. Kennedy.

The federal government and five remaining plaintiff states are asking the court to issue a final judgment that could weaken key Section 504 regulatory protections for disabled people.

These protections help prevent unnecessary institutionalization and support disabled people’s right to receive services in the most integrated setting appropriate to their individual needs.
